Keep it up Alex. Love the new banner.

Thanks Glenn, means a lot :) You just described what I wanted to do with the "Remember the name" series ;)

Accidentally gave you a thank you :))

It's no problem! Hope you continue it. :D

Dartford-Chelmsford

http://perlbal.hi-pi.com/blog/864303/header_round1/1343238835.png
The first game of the month was against Chelmsford, it started like last month. They had a (controversial) penalty and they missed it. This penalty came after Banton pulled a shirt in the box, and Wood hit the woodwork. But it but it was only a matter of minutes before Chelmsford find the back of the net and there were only 10 minutes on the clock when the same and poor Banton scored a own-goal. The Dartford player who received before the game his award for scoring October's Goal of the Month in the last game, scored again but at the wrong end of the pitch this time.

Chelmsford goalkeeper didn't make many saves but the Darts where clearly dominating the first half, and could have scored by the likes of Dixion who find the post on a great header, Lecuras with a free-kick saved on the line by a defender, Reeney hitting the crossbar from outside the box, and Murphy who had beaten his defender but lost his head-to-head with the keeper.

Another reason Alex Sonwild players didn't score is that Chelmsford, unlike most of the teams this season, had a well organized defence who contained well the attacks from the league leaders. The Dartford gaffer decide to bring on Peruvian playmaker Miguel Medina on, ending the game for a nervous Banton. This change allowed Murphy getting in a position he prefer in the axe, and Taïder moving upward.

But Chelmsford didn't change their game plan and could have scored more without great saves from Baxter. The Clarets where impressive, playing with quick and short passes who just confused their opponents. And the players were fully confident, trying and achieving little tricks who made them look as a Barcelona of lower division.

With height minutes left on the clock and still this one goal advantage for Chelmsford, Sonwild decided to go for a overload tactic, bringing on a new striker in the person of O'Brien. Ten minutes earlier the young manager had already brought José Carlos, a attacking midfielder, on the pitch.

The league best attack was putting more and more pressure and at the 84th minute O'Connor did a incredible double save on attempts from Dixion and José Carlos.
The referee indicate three minutes of stoppage time and Chelmsford have the ball. They keep it for two minutes without losing it, just simple passes who annoys more and more the Dartford players, staff and fans. Barlett can't keep is calm and do a stupid tackle. One minute left, Chelmsford have a well free-kick placed.

Cooper put the ball in the box, Medina clear it with his head but it isn't a Dartford player who get it. Mithethwa do a perfect pass to Cooper who can enter in the box and create danger. No! Off-side!
The Darts have a last chance of getting one point from this game. Medina to Moore, he pass one player, two players now. Moore with José Carlos, can he do Spanish magic. José Carlos put the ball in the box and DIXION! RENNEY! MURPHY! No it's finish here at Princes Park. There was a last chance for Dartford with this brilliant pass from José Carlos, Dixion jumped, and headed the ball on to the crossbar. Reeney was at the rebound and fired the ball in the goalkeeper legs. Murphy manage to get a touch on it, but he missed his shoot and put it wide.

It's the first time that Dartford don't score this season. It's also the first time they don't win at home. The Darts stay first of the Blue Square Bet South, nine points ahead of Farnborough who didn't play today. Chelmsford move up one place to 15th. The Man of The Match is Brian Turner who created the only and own goal from Banton.

October's Goal of the Month

Banton wins it!

Dartford's Goal of the Month award is gone to Cassim Banton. The right back scored on the last game of October, against Hayes & Yeading. It was an accurate finish which went in off the post on 69 minutes after a good team movement.

Banton only joined Dartford at the start of October but he will follow the club tradition: as he is Goal of the Month winner, he gave us an interview. A great occasion to comeback on his first weeks at the club and to discover a possible future club heroes!

The Jamaican, born at Albion Mountain, lives in England since the age of 7 when he moved to London. He then started playing football and since his professional debuts at the age of 17 he played for 10 different clubs from Npower Championship to Blue Square Bet North and South.

Just before the kick-off of today's game he received the same little trophy that Pirrie won the month before. Unfortunately the game was disappointing for us, losing 1-0 to Chelmsford. The ironic part of the story was that Banton scored the goal. He had a very hard time and was subbed off at half-time by Alex Sonwild.
But now he is sitting beside me and he is all smiles.

- Hi Cassim, congratulation on winning Goal of the Month.

- Hi Glenn, thanks.

- Your first goal with Dartford has been voted goal of the month by our fans. Is this a motivation to score more?

- Yeah, sure. I didn't score a lot in my career and scoring this one then getting Goal of the Month is a great boost. It give you plenty of confidence and you want to score more.

- After you scored the goal did you think you could get Goal of the Month?

- Not at all! I didn't even know there was a Goal of the Month award. I learn that this morning when I arrived to the club house. Everyone was congratulating me!

- Did you already win awards like Goal of the Month in previous club?

- I don't think so. No, never.

- So where will you put this trophy?

- Think I'm going to put them with the medals I won when I was a child. In my bedroom, next to the window.

- You joined the club on the 30th of September. How do you evaluate your first month at Dartford?

- I'm pretty happy. We are doing well, the team score a lot and don't concede much. We had this defeat today but everyone here wants to react.

- How did you adapt to the team? Who helped you find your landmarks?

- Everyone helped me so it was pretty easy to adapt. Alex is a great manager and you get very quickly use to is style. Richard Spring also showed me the best places in Dartford, he is a great lad and a great captain.

- You're 39 years old but when we see you on the pitch running from one to the other and scoring Goal of the Month, you look like a 20 years old. What is your career plan with the Darts?

- First, I will stay until the end of this season and next all will depend on if I continue football or not. I'm getting old but I feel I could play for a few more seasons. I love Dartford so far so if I decide to continue playing and if the club still want me I will probably be here next season.

- Finally, where do you see Dartford at the end of the season?

- Hum, celebrating a victory on the last day of the season.

- So a victory in the playoff final?

- Hahaha, if we can avoid the playoffs it would be great.

- Okay Cassim. Thanks for taking time to speak to us and good luck for the upcoming
challenges.

- Thanks Glenn, bye.

This update is dedicated to Glenn T who inspired me a lot with all his stories. When I made this update I first thought at his AVTV Interviews on his "David Beckham: From Hero to Zero" story.
Glenn will miss to all FM Scout community in the next few weeks.
Bonne chance pour tes examens! Revient vite ;)
