END OF THE SERIE A SEASON
This long season has finally come to an end… A great end! We won three titles, the last being the UCL, the most important one! Before that, we played the last 3 Serie A matches (I was almost forgetting about telling of them), where I decided to let some youngsters have their professional debuts, and some players who had not enough time this year play some minutes…
Amedeo la Rosa had his professional debut taking the place of Christian few minutes before the final whistle.
We ended the league with 96 points, scoring 78 goals and taking only 20, having the best attack and defense of the league. Juventus 29 points far from us and qualified to Champions League. Lazio, Parma and Inter finished with the same amount of points (62), and their order was due only to their matches against each others: Lazio goes to UCL Preliminary Rounds, Parma and Inter to Euro League.
The most surprising news of the season is Roma’s relegation to Serie B: Giallorossi played a really bad season ending with 34 points, one less than Empoli and Chievo, and go down together with Ternana and Spezia.
Falcao won the Top Goalscorer award: his first season in Italy was wonderful and he scored 32 goals, 8 more than Rolando Bianchi (Torino).
El Tigre was also the one who had the best average rating in the league, 7.79 (together with Modibò Diakité, Lazio) and the one who was elected MVP most frequently (10 times). Moreover, Fraser Forster was the goalie with most clean sheets of the season (24).
SERIE A RESULTS
Is Arenas, Quartu Sant’Elena, 05/04/2014 - Day 36
Cagliari - MILAN 0 - 2
A solid win despite the list of backups in the starting line-up. 14 minutes after the beginning, De Sciglio had to go out for an injury (fortunately, nothing really bad) and Tonny Hendriks entered in his place making his professional debut. I decided to play Trabelsi as the striker and I was paid off by the goal he scored few seconds before the halftime. During the second half, other two youngsters entered for the first time a Serie A pitch, the first being Valiant Virgili and the second Natale Visciglia. The first had an unbelievable debut: 2 minutes after entering the pitch, he shot into the net a great pass from Jovetic. This guy seems to be promising…Cagliari - MILAN 0 - 2
San Siro, Milano, 05/07/2014 - Day 37
MILAN - Chievo 1 - 0
For the last home match of the season, I decided to line-up the ideal first 11, with few changes. The most important was Hendriks: he is the most promising prospect I have together with Visciglia and I wanted to see him from the beginning. He played well, in a match that we won 1-0 thanks to the 40th goal by Falcao. Another two important prospects made their professional debuts in that match: Markus Muller and Lyes Chiha.MILAN - Chievo 1 - 0
Friuli, Udine, 05/04/2014 - Day 38
Udinese - MILAN 2 - 1
The last match wasn’t so good for us, a tough loss against Udinese at Friuli. But the match was mainly devoted to Christian Abbiati and Massimo Ambrosini, who were playing the last match of their wonderful careers. Massimo in particular celebrates that with a goal, becoming the oldest goalscorer of our side’s history. Udinese - MILAN 2 - 1
