Sporting CP - The Rebirth of the Lions

Sporting Clube de Portugal, known as Sporting in his country and frequently as Sporting Lisbon out of Portugal is one of the «3 grandes» (the 3 most sucessfull teams playing in Portugal, referring to Sporting, Benfica and Porto).
The club have been founded in July 1, 1906 by José de Alvalade. The team is called by «Lions» and «verde e brancos», and they play their home games in Stadium José de Alvalade that have the capacity for 50,076 people. This stadium have been built for the European Championship in Portugal at 2004 and have been openned at August 8, 2003, in a match against Manchester United that Sporting won by 3-1.
During his 106 years of history, the club won an incredible number of titles at all of the sports and is nowadays the second club with more titles in the world counting all the modalities. In football the things are not different, the Lions have already won a great number of trophys as 1 Cup Winners' Cup in 1964, 18 Portuguese championships, 15 Portuguese Cups, 8 Portuguese Supercups and more.
The most sucessfull year of Sporting in the Champions League/European Champion Clubs' Cup was in 1982/1983 when they arrive the Quarter Finals, and in Europa League/ UEFA Cup was in 2004/2005 when they lost in the Final in their own stadium. The biggest European victory was in 1963/1964 when the Lions won 16-1 against APOEL Nicosia.

Almost 1 week after the end of the last season, when Sporting lost the Portuguese Cup Final against Académica, the boss Godinho Lopes had quit is job. Since then, Sporting was in a presidential campaign till today.
The big favourite for the win, Bruno de Carvalho have won the elections with more than 80% of all the votes, and he is now the new Spoting CP boss. The club from Lisbon is living one of the most dark times in his history, deep in a financial and winnings crisis the Sporting supporters believe that the new boss is the right man to raise up the club again.
Bruno de Carvalho have said that in the next season, as many others in the last years, the big expectation for the senior football team of the Lions is to get back into the Champions League places, which means that Sporting will run for the first 3 places of the championship. Carvalho also said that the new coach have been already chosen but will just be presented to the public during the next week.
The atmosphere around the club is of great happiness and confidence after one of the worst Sporting bosses ever (according to the club supporters) had left the club, and the new, young and ambitious boss have take the lead.
The Sporting fans are optimistic for this new era of the club, but they still very cautious and patient about the future, and don't really dream about great winnings from the team in the next year, due to the instability of the club in the last large years, In the opinion of the most of Sporting supporters, the most important thing for the senior football team next year is to make a solid and united team, that can expect for better things in the future and guarantee some more stability for the future.

Haha that is something I wont deny :p my best mate is portuguese and supports Benfica and kept taking the p*** out of Sporting after their season...it was only then I realised how bad it really was :p

I think it should be "The rebirth of the Lions" rather than reborn, but good luck I don't really have a favourite team in Portgual, maybe you could convince me to make me support Sporting with some good updates

I used to be fond of Benfica, but then they knocked us out of the Europa League xD! I like Sporting's youth creations and they have a nice kit, so they are probably my favorite in Portugal.

I'm doing a Sporting story because this is my club. And we obviously deserve that better things happen to us. But, since this isn't happening irl, I guess I have to take my chances on fm.

Sporting are defiantly one of the 'big 3' in Portugal. Unfortunately for them, they have been 3rd a lot, not really getting 1 or 2 that often. Hopefully you can change that!

The worst thing is that even 3rd place is getting impossible in the last years.
But I think it will be next year we will be back (I say this every year, unfortunately).
For the story, I think I can't be worst than the reality, but let's see how that's go.
