Manchester United: Club Overview

Manchester United Football Club is an English professional football club, based in Old Trafford, Greater Manchester, that plays in the Premier League. Founded as Newton Heath LYR Football Club in 1878, the club changed its name to Manchester United in 1902 and moved to Old Trafford in 1910.

Manchester United have won many trophies in English football, including a record 20 league titles, a record 11 FA Cups, four League Cups and a record 19 FA Community Shields. The club has also won three European Cups, one UEFA Cup Winners' Cup, one UEFA Super Cup, one Intercontinental Cup and one FIFA Club World Cup. In 1998–99, the club won a Treble of the Premier League, the FA Cup and the UEFA Champions League, an unprecedented feat for an English club.

The 1958 Munich air disaster claimed the lives of eight players. In 1968, under the management of Matt Busby, Manchester United was the first English football club to win the European Cup. The current manager, Sir Alex Ferguson, has won 25 major honours, and 38 in total, since he took over in November 1986.

Manchester United is one of the wealthiest and most widely supported football teams in the world. In January 2013, Manchester United became the first sports team in the world to be valued at $3 billion. Forbes Magazine valued the club at $3.3 billion – $1.2 billion higher than the next most valuable sports team.

With £22 million will you sign one big player of a few good ones?
This should be good, can't wait to see who you sign!
The Special One: Let's just say, with the tactics I'm using, and the players I have to sell, I could have a bit of both.

Carlos Fierro Joins United

David Moyes has announcd Carlos Fierro as his first signing of the 2012/2013 campaign. Fierro signed from Chivas for £3.7 million, with little experience in professional football, being a move that could baffle football fans all around the world.

Fierro played 21 games for Chivas, mostly coming off the bench, but didn't score in an attacking midfield position. Carlos also featured 23 times for the reserve side, in which he scored 9 goals, also as an attacking midfielder. However, David Moyes has expressed his eagerness to play Fierro as a striker.

As Fierro is just 18, he is certainly a signing for the future, although Moyes has suggested Fierro could begin to appear for the first team a few times in the upcoming season. Carlos joins the likes of Robin van Persie, Wilfred Zaha, Alexander Buttner, Shinji Kagawa, Nick Powell and Angelo Henriquez who joined this year, but signed under the reign of Sir Alex Ferguson.

Moyes has said that he hopes to train up Carlos Fierro in the first few years, so he can hopefully feature most weeks for the side and become a club regular within the next few years.

Carlos Fierro will be on £5.75k p/w in a deal expiring in June 2015.
Everyone knows how good this guy is. I'm sure he'll be fantastic.
Good signing Devil :)
The Special One: I know, too good to turn down. I didn't really want to sign him on FM13, but I signed him on my old save but didn't get to see him develop fully, so want to see him do it this time.

Louis O.: why thank you kind sir :P

Moyes Signs Fellaini

David Moyes has announced Marouane Fellaini as his next signing for Manchester United. Fellaini was a key player for Moyes at Everton, so it was predicted by many that Moyes would try to get Marouane to join him in Manchester, costing £25 million.

Felliani joined Everton in 2008 for just £16 million, and ended up playing 107 games, in which he scored 13 goals. Fellaini became a key player for Everton over the years, resulting in many Everton fans being heartbroken at his decision to leave.

It is believed that Moyes will introduce Fellaini into the team immediately, knowing how he plays, and how to get the most of the player. There are many rumours going around social networking sites that Fellaini could also be joined by Everton left-back Leighton Baines, a favourite of ex-manager Sir Alex Ferguson, but with the transfer fee being the only issue.

Having splashed the cash so early on, and with more signings expected, many expect David Moyes to announce some departures from the club within the next few days.

Marouane Fellaini will be on £91k p/w in a deal expiring in June 2016.
Of course. I think this will happen in the real world.
The Special One: So do I, alongside Baines. And maybe United are reunited (see what I did there) with Howard in a few years time... :P
