KAREMBEU SLAMS PANCRATE
Karembeu has labelled Fabrice Pancrate as “overweight” following his apology for his mistake in FC Nantes’ 4-3 defeat to AS Nancy.
Pancrate gave the ball away late into the second half to gift Nancy a goal and Nantes feels that has got to do with the winger's physical shape.
“For me Fabrice’s problem and I’ve told him this before, is his weight. I afraid he is too heavy.
“By that I don’t mean the guy is fat, far from it. He’s actually a very muscular bloke. The problem I have with him is that he is a winger and his weight makes him at least a yard slower than I would like.
“Fabrice is 31 years old now, approaching his 32nd birthday, so unfortunately science has its toll on you and he will get slower. His weight will only enforce that and it was very visible in the mistake he made.
“If he has the bad luck of getting a bad injury, I’m afraid that could be his career done because as we’ve seen before with other players, soon come a vicious circle of setbacks.
“I appreciate his apology as will the fans. We are all human so we all make errors but I hope he takes my advice in trying to minimise them.”
Karembeu was also tight lipped other whether Pancrate would feature in the Derby de l’ouest at the weekend versus Angers.
“I’ve never been one to reveal my starting line-up and everyone knows that by now. We’ll come away and assess the game against Nancy ahead of a huge clash with Angers.
“Whether it is Pancrate or Poggi or Messi, nobody has a guaranteed spot in my side so to me it’s not a big deal if somebody plays. All I can promise is that we will put out a team that is ready to win.”
