Alan Shearer: Back for More

Alan Shearer is an English retired footballer. He played as a striker in the top level of English league football for Southampton, Blackburn Rovers, Newcastle United and for the England national team. He is considered as one of England's best strikers, being both Newcastle's and the Premier League's record goalscorer. After retiring as a player in 2006, Shearer worked as a television pundit for the BBC. In 2009 he briefly left his BBC role to become Newcastle United's manager in the last eight games of their 2008–09 season, in an unsuccessful attempt to save them from relegation.

Alan, welcome back to St James’s Park.
Thank you, it’s great to be back.

What’s it like to be back here at St James’s Park?

It’s great. Walking into the ground today gave me flashbacks on all of the great memories I’ve had at this club.

You came back at the end of the 2008-09 season. What do you think will happen differently?

Well, for one, we’ll stay up this time and we’ll be challenging for the Europa League with a strong squad.

Speaking of your squad, what areas do you think need to be strengthened?

As I said just before, we have a strong squad with some potential, but we may need to bring in new backup players if we need to. But I highly doubt it.

Final question, who do you think will win the Premier League this year?

Well, that’s always a hard question. The Premier League can go anywhere, so I won’t make a judgement until at least the second half of the season.
Good luck. Hope you do my club justice better than Pards has done this season. :)
Good luck
I think someone has done a Shearer story before and it didn't last very long so it will be great to see if you can end that trend. Good luck.

I recall that too, can't remember who made it though.

Newcastle 1-0 Newcastle Reserves

Papiss Cisse (54’)

I expected more from this match.

Chievo 3-2 Newcastle

Hatem Ben Arfa (53’)
Mike Williamson (78’)

I was expecting at least a draw in this match, apparently it wasn’t to be.

Vincenza 0-5 Newcastle
Moussa Sissoko (21’)
Papiss Cisse (26’)
Fabricio Coloccini (45+3’)
Haris Vuckic (67’)
Steven Taylor (90+2’)

Good win, surprising to see Vuckic on the scoresheet.

Lugo 1-3 Newcastle

Hatem Ben Arfa (2’)
Papiss Cisse (9’)
Fabricio Coloccini(57’)

Decent result, but a clean sheet would have been nice.
Nice good luck

August Fixtures

Sunderland 0-0 Newcastle

First Tyne & Wear Derby, but a bore draw. Hoping to at least score one in this match.

AGF 1-1 Newcastle

Papiss Cisse (69’)

A draw away from home wasn’t the best, but not the worst. Especially with that away goal.

Newcastle 2-1 West Ham

Hatem Ben Arfa (19’)

Moussa Sissoko (43’)

A decent win against West Ham.

Newcastle 3-1 AGF

Yohan Cabaye (2’)

Papiss Cisse (55’)

Jonas Gutierrez (79’)

Good win to get us into the group stages.
