Wow! I didn't know that.

At least we can cause distractions when Notts County are playing :D

My Squad and Tactics

After I sat down, got my things sorted out and took a breather, my assistant manager walked in. His name was Jimmy-Floyd Hasselbank. Once a great striker.

We greeted, talked and looked through the squad. We wrote down who we thought were key players, and where we needed to improve. It was obvious from the get go that we needed to improve on our defence. Our strongest point is our midfield, which will be helpful with the formation I have chosen.

Here are my best players:

Chris Gunter

CA/PA - /

Our best defender. Chris is only 22, which means he can improve. He is a well-rounded full back, with no outstanding attributes, but he has ability in most areas, which makes him key.

Jonathan Greening

CA/PA - /

Greening is our best player according to Jimmy. And I can see why. He is fit, determined and works like a train. However he is 32 and isn’t getting younger. But he will no doubt prove to be vital in the midfield.

Paul Anderson

CA/PA - /

Paul is quick, young and a well-rounded lad. He has a good cross in him, and can deliver killer balls to Miller. But he also has the ability in run through the defences and deliver low crosses which terrorizes defences.

Ishmael Miller

CA/PA - /

He is our best striker, and is the reason why I have a low budget. He has the making of a perfect poacher. He is lighting quick, strong and very determined. Nothing stops him. The only concern is his composure, but we can work on that.

My Youth

Not many good prospects, except for Jamaal Lascalles. Looks like he will be a good defender in the future.

CA/PA - /

Tactics

I prefer a quick, short passing game, with the AMC to send through balls to our poacher. This is my Miller is great, and why this formation works. 4-2-3-1

If I play against very tough teams (BPL) then I shall play a 4-5-1, for quick counter attacking.

A really good start to your story. It is great to see someone taking charge of Forest. Will be great to see if you can get them back to their Clough years!

Thanks man!
Maybe I will
i am sure that Jamaal Lascalles will be a really nice defender.. nice start and keep going :)

Transfers

Nottingham Forest have brought in three players to the club. It was rumoured that Amod might want to strengthen his defence and probably get an extra striker, but no one knew for sure until now who he has bought.

It has been revealed that left midfielder Richard Soumah from Stade Brestois 29 has signed for Forest for around 1.6 million pounds. The deal includes 250k immediately with the rest to be paid over a period of time. Soumah had only made 14 appearances for Stade, without a goal.

Another signing is 30 year old right back Jlloyd Samuel on a free. Samuel was without a club but Amod needed extra defenders and signed him. Samuel has a wealth of experience after making over 200 appearances in the Premier League. It is understood that Samuel will only play the role of a backup, but he may improve on the training ground and become a first team regular.

The last of Amod’s signings is 17 year old Brazilian striker – Ademilson. Ademilson joins Forest on a 12 month loan, but will only come to City Ground from the 5th of January. Forest have the option of buying Ademilson for 2 million pounds if they are impressed with him in the 12 months he will spend at the club. Many fans think that Ademilson will be a great signing, and paired with in form striker Ishmael Miller, Forest seem to have a strong attack.

Nottingham Forest have also released three players.

Karl Darlow and Dimitar Evtimov have gone on loan to Bristol Rovers and Morecambe respectively. Dexter Blackstock has gone to Peterborough for 825k.
Great start to this story and the effort you're making is amazing! I am already your supporter :) keep going and bring the success back to Forest

Pre-Season Friendlies and some agents

As I looked at my fixture list, I saw that I had seven friendlies coming up. I don’t like watching them, but it’s important as it gets me used to my players, and shows me where I need to improve. Our most notable opponents in the friendlies were against Liverpool and Arsenal Reserves. Although they are reserves, they have very good players such as Sterling and Suso at Liverpool, and Gibbs and Carlos Vela at Arsenal. I only dream of having players like that in my reserves.

I couldn’t have asked for a better pre-season. Unbeaten and scoring plenty of goals. I am still concerned about my defense, but Samuel will add that extra depth. One man who has impressed me during pre-season is David McGoldrick. I didn’t think he would be of much importance but he has scored five goals and seven assists during those friendlies. It seems my midfield just got stronger.

Amod
Peterborough Coach

“Hello, is this Mikhail Amod?”

“Yes this is him. And you are?”

“I am Darren Ferguson, manager of Peterborough. I have had my scouts watch some friendlies and they were impressed with David McGoldrick. We are willing to offer one million pounds for him. This includes 300 thousand right now, and the rest to be paid over the next 2 years. What do you think?”

“Uhm, sorry Darren. He is in my first team plans. So no that offer will be unacceptable.”

“Okay I understand. I might come back with a better offer. Thanks”

The phone went silent and I took a step back. A million pounds would have been nice, but David looks like he will be important.

About half an hour later there was a knock on the door. I heard some whispering outside.

Amod
Agent

“Come in.”

“Hi Mr Amod, I am Peter Woolley, McGoldricks agent. I just got off the phone with Peterborough’s coach, who said he wants us at Peterborough. We want an improved contract of 9000 pounds p/w, just so we know David’s future is secure. I would like it if these negotiations went quickly.”

“A contract that lets us know that David’s future is secure. What the bloody hell are you on about. The only thing that will secure your client’s future is his performance on the pitch. Scoring goals in a couple friendly matches doesn’t count. If performs well over the course of the year, then he will get a new contract! Get the hell out of my office!”

The agent looked shocked and left trying to call someone on his phone. That will teach those bloody agents!

(sigh) “I need a sectary for my office.”
Great couple of updates, and your team looks like quality! I'm excited to see how Ademilson will do in an FM12 save.

I look forward to the day when we can all say "let's all do an Amod at Nottingham Forest" :P

kr1ups - Thanks man. I shall try my best to bring back the Clough days

edu1878 - Thanks :) Means a ton

Glenn T - Me too! Too bad he only comes in January :( And don't we all look forward to that day :D

August in Review

So it all came down to this. After a month of preparation, transfer talks and training, it was the opening day of the season. I was up against Reading, who used to be a good team in the BPL, so I couldn’t take chances.

After all the Match Build ups, fans chanting and journalists talking, it was just me and the boys. I told them to be calm, play your best and do it for the fans. It was time.

The Line Ups

Commentators

0’ - “Well ladies and gentlemen it’s that time of the year. The opening day of the season. And today we are watching Reading take on Nottingham Forest at the Madejski Stadium. And Reading get the game under way.”

20’ – “And it’s Majeskwi on the ball. Passed to Greening, back to Majeskwi. Anderson makes a run, a through ball by Majeskwi…its through to Anderson! He is one on one, surely? GOAL! Anderson scores Nottingham’s first goal under Mikhail Amod. Forest lead one nil.

49’ – “Anderson is on the right wing, but is easily tackled by Kebe. Gunter picks up the ball around the halfway line. Knocks it past Kebe, looks up – he sees Miller making a run. It a 40 yards pass! Miller picks it up, lovely control. HE KNOCKS IT PAST THE KEEPER! It must be? Yes it is! GOAL! Miller yets a lovely half volley and make it two nil.

88’ – “Kebe is on the ball. A gives a lovely ball to Robson-Kanu! What a pass. Robson-Kanu on the ball. He dribbles past Gunter, hits a low cross! Simon Church scores! GOAL! Reading are back in this! It’s 2-1”

93’ – “Forest on the attack, but Kebe tackles Cohen. Reading on the break, could they pull of a lovely comeback. Robson-Kanu with a through ball to McAnuff. McAnuff is through on goal. He takes a shot from 20 yards. What is he thinking? Oh my word! He has scored! GOAL! A lovely dipping shot from over 25 yards out. I don’t believe it! Reading have pulled an amazing 5 minutes comeback. John McAnuff in the 93rd minute. Mikhail Amod cannot believe it. And that ladies and gentlemen is the game. Amod will surely give him players a good lecture.

I couldn’t believe it. We had the lead. A two goal lead! And in the last five minutes we gave it away. I was angry.

“That was horrible. You guys play like champions for 85 minutes and then throw it all away! If you keep playing like that, we will never be in the Premier League! Get your act together guys. You played well for most of the match.”
It may seem harsh, but it was the truth. And it seemed to lift the players.

Capital One Cup
Nott Forest vs Rotherham

5 – 0

Goals – Paul Anderson (2), Andy Reid (2) and Ishmael Miller
Man of the Match – Paul Anderson

It was the first round of the Capital One Cup. And it was an outstanding performance. Although Rotherham are in League 2, the performance lifted the spirit of everyone. It was a great day for Anderson, who scored 2 and assisted two.

nPower Championship
Notts Forest vs Doncastor

4 – 1

Goals – Ishmael Miller (2), Luke Chambers and Wes Morgan
Man of the Match – Paul Anderson

A great victory in the Championship, which is my first. A good performance from Miller who grabbed two goals. Both my centre backs got one goal each – both of them have some power headers. Anderson picked up yet another man of the match award after getting a hat trick of assists.

nPower Championship
Burnley vs Notts Forest

1 – 0

Goals – none
Man Of the Match – Jay Rodríguez (Burnley)

A poor performance, and a boring match. Rodríguez scored the only goal, which was a 30 yard stunner in the 31st minute. We had seven shots, six on target. Their keeper was on fire.

nPower Championship
Notts Forest vs Blackpool

2 – 2

Goals – Ishmael Miller and Gareth McClearly
Man of the Match – Gareth McClearly

This was a big match. Blackpool were top and unbeaten. We were 5th. Miller scored in the 8th minute, but Blackpool equalised in the 58th. I thought we had won it when McClearly scored a rebound in the 73rd minute. But in the 81st minute Bogdanovic equalised again for Blackpool. Blackpool remained unbeaten, and we remain 5th.

Capital One Cup Round Two
Sheffield United vs Notts Forest

1 – 3

Goals – Wes Morgan (2) and Ishmael Miller
Man of the Match – Wes Morgan

It was the Capital One Cup. The board wants me to get to the 3rd round. I want to get to the Quarter Final. Wes Morgan scored again in the 34th minute. It was good to see him get another. But United equalised 3 minutes later. I thought I would be one of those days again. But we scored again in the 46th minute, it was Wes Morgan again! Miller sealed the game in the 86th minute. I won’t lie, I was scared in the last 10 minutes.

nPower Championship
East Midlands Derby - Derby County vs Notts Forest

0 – 4

Goals – Paul Anderson, Ishmael Miller, Luke Chambers and Andy Reid
Man of the Match – Paul Anderson

It was the East Midlands Derby. Both great rivals, both have been blessed with the godliness of Brian Clough. We got off to a flyer when Anderson scored in the 2nd minute. We doubled our lead in the 11th minute when Miller scored his 7th goal in 7 games. My centre back, Luke Chambers, scored a powerful header in the 17th minutes. In the 91st minute, to cap off a good day, Andy Reid scored the goal of the month. Anderson gave a long range cross which went past Miller, but Reid chest the ball and hit an absolute monstrous shot from an angle similar to Paolo Di Canio’s memorable volley.

As you can see, East Midland Derbies get intense

End of August

It has been a pretty good month for me. Not the best, but good. Yeah we have some issues in defense, but my word our attack is outstanding. Paul Anderson and Ishmael Miller have been superb. Miller has 7 goals in 7 games, and Anderson has 3 goals and 7 assists. I made it to the 3rd round of the Capital One Cup but in the Championship I am only 7th. Granted there have only been 5 matches, the game against Reading should have been a comfortable 3 points. We have scored the most goals in the league, 12, but our defense meant we conceded 6.

Anyway I look forward to September, a month where I will no doubt reach the top 3.

Player of the Month

Paul Anderson – He has been named Man of the Match 4 times in the past 7 matches, and has scored 3 goals and has 7 assists. He is the main reason why Miller has 7 goals.

Goal of the Month

This goes to Andy Reid. A sweetly struck volley from a very tight angle that sailed to the far top corner.

September in Review

September would have to be much better than August if we want to win the Championship. During the weeks I made sure that I trained my players hard. Some of them complained, like Luke Chambers and Ishmael Miller. But I told them to go grow a pair. If they wanted to play in BPL they would have to work hard.

nPower Championship
Notts Forest vs Cardiff

3 – 1

Goals – Ishmael Miller, Richard Soumah and Luke Chambers

Man of the Match – Luke Chambers

It was good way to start the month. Although Cardiff scored in the 60th minute, almost 2 minutes after Soumah scored, the boys responded well.

nPower Championship
Brighton vs Notts Forest

2 – 2

Goals – Radoslaw Majewski and Ishmael Miller

Man of the Match – Craig Mackail-Smith (Brighton)

I have no idea how me didn’t win this one. I was disgusted at my players. Majewski scored in the 26th minute and Miller in the 60th. But out of nowhere, Mackail-Smith scored in the 91st minute. And again in the 93rd minute. I was angry! As soon as we entered the dressing room I threw a boot across the room and it broke a mirror. I don’t remember what I said to my players, but I do know it had an age restriction of 18.
?

Capital One Cup Round 3
Notts Forest vs Coventry

3 – 1

Goals – David McGoldrick, Wes Morgan and Ishmael Miller

Man of the Match – Ishmael Miller

Red Cards – Ibrahima Sony Camara (Coventry)

Not the sort of comeback I would have liked, but a win is a win. McGoldrick scored in the 54th minute and we went in cruise control. Until Carl Baker scored in the 81st minute. This was the 3rd time this season we gave away a lead. At full time I brought on Paul Anderson and Miller. Anderson set up Wes Morgan who scored in the 100th minute. Camara was sent off in the 110th minute and Miller sealed the win in the 120th minute. We were in the 4th round!

nPower Championship
Notts Forest vs Middlesbrough

3 – 0

Goals – Andy Reid, Wes Morgan and Richard Soumah

Man of the Match – Paul Anderson

A good victory and yet another man of the match for Paul Anderson. Our unbeaten run continues.

nPower Championship
Watford vs Notts Forest

0 – 1

Goal – Ishmael Miller

Man of the Match – Radoslaw Majewski

Not the best of matches but a win is a win. That was 6 matches in the league unbeaten, and 7 in all competitions. We climbed 3 spots since August.
End of September

It has been a good month. Unbeaten, only one slip up and we are scoring plenty of goals. Hopefully we can keep the form going.

Player of the Month

Ishmael Miller has been sensational. He now has 11 goals in 11 games.

Goal of the Month

Goes to David McGoldrick, a sweetly struck 25 yard shot.
