September Review
A big improvement this month, we moved up to 8th place, 5 places ahead of where we were in August. The month started with a very entertaining 3-3 draw with Cardiff City, although, I was annoyed because whenever we took the lead, we were pegged back. That happened 3 times but I was extremely impressed with our attacking display, Matej Vydra scored one, with Fernando Forestieri getting the other two. We then moved onto play-off hopefuls Hull City, which was a very boring game which ended 1-1 with Forestieri getting our one goal. Then came a game which I didn't really know what was going on! We were against Leicester City, and by the time the game reached 45 minutes we were winning 5-0 and then nothing happened! Alex Geijo returned to his August form with two goals in the opening 6 minutes, then Fernando Forestieri grabbed his goal which made it his 4th goal in 3 games, our center midfielder Almen Abdi scored his first in a Watford shirt and then Matej Vydra completed the rout on 41 minutes, what really pleased me in this game wasn't the attacking aspect but the way we shut Leicester out all game. We then played against Nottingham Forest which we narrowly won with an 83rd minute goal from Forestieri who got another goal earlier on and Alex Geijo got one. Then we came up against Southampton in the 3rd round of the Capital One Cup and Forestieri capitalized on The Saints weak defensive 4 and grabbed two goals which turned out to be vital as we won 2-1! It was a shame we couldn't end a good month on a high as we lost 2-1 to Ipswich Town with Alex Geijo grabbing our only goal of that game.
The Player of the Month goes to Fernando Forestieri who scored 8 goals in 5 games
