August Update!

OK first of all I am enjoying this save so much that I have gone very far ahead of myself. I don't want to clog up the forum with endless posts, so for now I will be doing an update every month or two. This update will include: Pre Season, Bundesliga and German Cup Results! So sit back and enjoy!
Pre-Season
Oliver Kahn was too focused on transfers at this stage, so he asked his assistant to help out. Here were the results:
All in all a decent pre season. Nothing to spectacular but not bad either.

Month Of August
Schalke 0-0 Sandhausen (Sandhausen win 4-3 on penalties)
Christian Fuchs
Kahn's opinion: A shocking result, out of the cup before it even began

Nurnberg 0-1 Schalke
Ibrahim Afellay 90+2
Klaas-Jan Huntelaar
Kahn's opinion: A very nice way to start the season. An away win and a last-gasp winner from the substitute!

Month Of September
Schalke 1-0 Hoffenheim
Jefferson Farfan 65
Jefferson Farfan
Kahn's Opinion: Exactly the sort of football we want to play, controlling, defensive, and able to get a goal when needed!

Gladbach 2-1 Schalke
Kyriakos Papadopolous 66
Julian Draxler
Kahn's Opinion: Disappointing loss, but Gladbach are a good team and deserved their win.

Next update will contain the biggest game of our season yet: away to Chelsea in the Champion's League Group Stages. Can we pull off an Inter-esque upset away to the defending champions? I will also show off the tactic I am using, and as always, any feedback or tips you have are welcome! Are you enjoying the presentation? Let me know! Peace :D
Where are you in the league table mate?

An average starting month, so maybe you can improve next month :)
Disappointing defeats but im sure the results will come

Like I said I am really far ahead (mid-november :P) and I stupidly forgot to screen the table. I will do for future posts, but I believe I was around 4th at the time. :)

A Change Of Plan

So, I had said in the last update that I would be showing the Chelsea game in this update. However, due to the fact that I am very far ahead and want to keep playing, this post will instead be a roundup of the 9 Bundesliga games I have played since then. And of course, I will show you my tactic and the league table ("AT LONG LAST RAB!!!!!")

Bundesliga Results
Kahn's Opinion: A mixed bag of results, really. Televised home draws vs Bremen and Furth were very poor and both we should have won, I can only apologise to all our TV viewers. Dortmund result hurt the team lot, a late debatable penalty won it for Dortmund, and I received a warning from the FA for comments about the referee. But other than that some nice wins.

September POTM: Jefferson Farfan

Kahn's Opinion: Jeff had a good solid month, popping up with the winning goal against Hoffenheim too and generally causing defences problems.

October POTM:Roman Neustadter

http://i.smimg.net/13/09/300x225/roman-neustadter-schalke.jpg
Kahn's Opinion:This one was tough as Michel Bastos too had a great month but Roman has been a consistent rock at defensive midfield this season and long may his performances continue.

League Table
Kahn's Opinion: A really good start, we are exactly where we want to be: in the qualification places for next season's Champions League. We are chuffed to be ahead of Dortmund despite our loss to them but will probably slip to 4th once Leverkusen play their games in hand. We also have the best defensive record in the league, and are yet to concede at home in the league. This is exactly how I wanted us to be, once we start taking more of our chances we will surely be an unstoppable force!

The Tactic
Khan's Opinion: (Ignore the team, they change regularly) I chose this tactic because I want us to play solid, controlling football. And it works, at home we are yet to concede and away we are usually very solid. I mostly play by telling my team to Work The Ball Into The Box and with this we have around 15-30 shots a match. Unfortunately, some of my team will need to work on their shooting, such as Teemu Pukki and Tranquillo Barnetta, who have squandered a lot of chances. I decided to not set any other Team Instructions, except to rarely Timewaste and to have a deep Defensive Line. So far it's working, but I will change if necessary.

And finally, some bad news.

Farfan Out 4 Months

Bundesliga club FC Schalke 04 have confirmed that Right Winger Jefferson Farfan has been ruled out of action for a minimum of 4 months. It is thought the Peruvian, who has made 60 international appearances for his country, scoring 14 goals, has suffered from a Broken Foot and will be out until at least February. This comes as a major blow for Schalke, as Farfan has been on superb form recently, scoring 3 goals in his 8 appearances and maintaining an average rating of 7.13. With big fixtures to come for Schalke, including an away game at league leaders Bayern Munich, this is sure to be a major blow.

Next Update: A round up of the Champion's League Group Stage games, against Chelsea, Celtic and Montpellier HSC.
Big loss of Farfan, however solid in the Bundesliga. Keep it up!
1
Gutting loss in Farfan there. Hopefully the troops can rally round and step-up in his absence. Great job defensively in the league too! Just as Khan wanted. KUTGW.
Ouch, Farfan must be a gutting loss. Love the way this has started and I will be following. Good luck with taking Schalke to the top of German football. (celebrates wildly at the prospect of a schalke story).

Tough loss with Farfan especially after he's had such a good start! Right up there in the league though keep it up Rabs good story so far

KAHN SILENCES CRITICS

Schalke manager Oliver Kahn has dismissed critics of his team's style of play by telling them it is exactly what they need. The former German international, 43, has recently come under fire for his defensive style of football, with some fans reportedly staying away from home matches because they want to see more goals.

However Khan, speaking earlier today ahead of his club's match at Bayern Munich's Allianz Arena, has told fans they are heading in the right direction.

"This is exactly what this club needs. You don't get anywhere with attacking football, sure you will score goals but if you are constantly conceding at the back, you are never going to win.

"We have the best defensive record in the league, and we are yet to concede at home in the Bundesliga, in mid-November. Yet we are also currently 3rd in the table and have only scored a few less goals than our rivals. I know for a fan it is more exciting to watch a nine-goal thriller than a slender 1-0 win, but if you look at the stats, you will know that we are controlling our matches. We have some seriously talented footballers at this club and the football on show should be more than enough to warrant fans to come to our matches.

"If those fans want to boycott our games, then so be it. Quite frankly I would rather have our true fans in this ground, those who will watch us through thick and thin, rather than anybody like them. I know the vast majority of our fans are wonderful, they are the best fans in the league, it is just a few idiots like that who ruin things for everybody."

Kahn then left the room amid questions about his future. His PA simply said, "Mr Kahn will not be answering any questions about his future today, thank you. He loves this club and is thoroughly enjoying life here," before himself exiting.

The appointment of Kahn has proven to be a controversial one since his arrival in late June, with many claiming more experienced managers such as Roberto Di Matteo and Jurgen Klinsmann would have been far more suited to the job.
Great job Oli! Silence those bastards :P

It might not be the prettiest, but if it works, who cares! :D
