Here are my completely uninformed predictions for who advances to knockout stage:

Group A: Italy and Mexico
Group B: Holland and Chile
Group C: Argentina and Romania
Group D: Brazil and Croatia
Group E: Spain and Portugal (:()
Group F: Paraguay and Ivory Coast
Group G: Uruguay and Slovakia
Group H: Germany and France
Since I haven't got there yet, I think it's fair that I take a guess who gets through the groups.

Group A: Italy and Mexico
Group B: Holland and South Korea
Group C: Argentina and Poland
Group D: Brazil and Japan
Group E: Spain and Portugal
Group F: Ivory Coast and Switzerland
Group G: Uruguay and Cameroon
Group H: Germany and France

Who plays for Ecuador?

Nani?
I don't know if FM models this but I would guess Ecuador would have an easier time getting fans to Brazil than Ukraine or Japan. As well, I know there are a few guys from Japan in top leagues but I have no idea who plays for Ukraine.
Here's my best guess. Here's to someone taking Croatia to the end!

Group A

Italy
Denmark

Group B

Holland
South Korea

Group C

Argentina
Poland

Group D

Brazil
Croatia

Group E

Spain
Portugal

Group F

Paraguay
Switzerland

Group G

Uruguay
Slovakia

Group H

Nani?

Nope. Plays for Portugal. Antonio Valencia and Felipe Caicedo are Ecuador's most known players

I don't think FM has a decent model for fans at World Cups and whatnot... even for the hsots, although I'm not sure.

Also, while Japan have Kagawa and Honda, Ukraine have a number of excellent players. Keep in mind that Shakhtar won the Europa League in 2009, and Dinamo Kyiv are always excellent challengers. So, while Japan has a few players at the top, Ukraine has a few teams...

no belgium on the world cup. the save is corrurpted i think :-p

In a peculiar turn of events, David Beckham (tipped for knighthood in the coming years after drawing an end to his storied career) and Shola Ameobi (A Nigerian-International fairly known across England for completing his entire footballing career at Newcastle United), have been entrusted with the responsibility of presenting this year’s edition of the coveted tournament. Beckham declared it an honour and a privilege to be given the opportunity to do so, and similarly expressed excitement both for the impending World Cup and working alongside Ameobi:

“It’s a big, big responsibility that I am fully aware of. I wouldn’t have taken up the opportunity if I didn’t feel I could do it though. I’m looking forward to it. The World Cup Final is still the most watched sporting event worldwide, so to be part of such a monumental occasion is a great honour for me,” Beckham told BBC.

Ameobi was reportedly ‘chuffed’ to be given the role of commentator for the Tournament, beginning his career as a pundit as his playing days draw to an end. “My days are all but up in terms of playing, and I think making the transition from player to commentator will be a good one. I never anticipated that I would start my new career like this, talking about, in my opinion, the greatest sporting event in the world, on the television.”

Both Ameobi’s Nigeria, and Beckham’s England- failed to make the grade.

“It was a big let down that England couldn’t make it to the finals, and also, Nigeria couldn’t quite qualify, but, I think, in a way, that is a good thing. I will be able to speak my mind without bias and, going into the competition, I don’t have any particular favourites. It will just be fantastic to watch such quality football.” Ameobi told press on a separate occasion.

“Watching England narrowly miss out on qualification last year was a big disappointment for the nation. Having played in World Cups myself I think it was particularly saddening not to be a part of a new crop of players who could potentially better our results. I think it is important that the governing body look at this and address it for the future.” Beckham was present at England’s last qualification match, where Wembley hosted the Poles.

Don't be silly, we all know Beckham didn't retire, he plays for that German club Hannover now ;)
Right, I'm saying this now so everybody knows.

Slovakia will win the World Cup.

You'll all be amazed at my talent to see into the future, oh, and and Toon? Watch out for that motorbike about to crash through your window in 2 hours and 7 minutes;)

The World Cup will kick off in a matter of days, and as the teams train in Brazil, hype is building across the world. New BBC pundits, Shola Ameobi and David Beckham were part of the build-up, showing their predictions on the World Cup finals over the social networking site, Twitter.

Coverage of the World Cup will be broadcast on BBC with the two ex-players acting as commentators over the games, that will begin on the 13th June, when Italy play Mexico and South Africa play Denmark.
