Manchester City Sign Navas

Spanish winger Jesus Navas has completed a move to England and the Premier League, after putting pen-to-paper on a 4 year deal. The winger signs from Sevilla, after spending his entire career so far with his hometown club. Many didn't expect City to sign Navas, what with the Blues possessing a side already filled to the brim with midfield quality, but here he is.

One of the problems City suffered last season was with midfield width, the inability to change a game when City were struggling to get a result. This is the start of many City rebuilding actions that will be undertaken this summer to try and win the title back from Manchester United, who romped to the Premier League title last season. There were lots of problems with consistency for City last season, being able to beat a big team one week, then lose to a much weaker team the next. Teams of the stature of City should be able to consisstently win week in, week out, not struggle like City did.

Many are taking City signing Navas as a further indication that Manuel Pellegrini is set to take over at the Eithad. Pellegrini is a well-known admirer of Navas, having seen him play regualarly whilst managing in Spain at some of the biggest teams. However, he has never managed the World Cup-winning winger, and this should be his first chance.

The 27-year-old is to wear the number 9 shirt at the Etihad, and whilst the fee has been undisclosed, it is believed to be around £17m. There are some concerns amongst pundits about Navas' alleged homesickness. A few years ago, Navas was away from his family at a training camp with his Sevilla team-mates, and had to return home early because of the severity of his homesickness. Thankfully, this is not expected to be a problem now, as he has been receiving counselling for it ever since the homesick incident.

The signing has been generally well received amongst City fans, who are happy that their team have captured someone of such a high pedigree, and can't wait to see their new capture pull of the blue shirt of the Citizens.
patrick1: I am planning to use the youth system, even if this does involve buying the youngsters :P

Justice: Thanks Justice :)
Will you be signing Fernandinho as well? Navas should be excellent!
neal09: I haven't signed either, I put them in in the editor, because we already have them in real life :P just dragging the start out a bit more
:D Making this realistic now, are we :P
Rablador: Yes. Yes we are. :P

Man City Seal Fernandinho Deal

Manchester City have completed their second signing of the summer, completing the transfer of Brazilian midfielder Fernandinho from Shakhtar Donetsk for a fee believed to be around £25m. This continues City's process of rebuilding, as they already signed Spanish winger Jesus Navas from Sevilla earlier this week.

Another of City's problems last season, was creativity in the middle of midfield. Too often the ball just wasn't going forwards, it was being passed sideways consistently for five or ten minutes at a time, which just isn't creating chances, unless you plan to score 45-yard screamers all season. Indeed, Fernandinho has been labelled as a similar type of player to Yaya Toure, who has been very influential in the City team since his move from Barcelona back in 2010. Yaya is always able to make those bursting runs from midfield into the box, and has popped up with some vital goals in the last two seasons. If Fernandinho is able to produce the same level of football that Yaya has been capable of for the Blues, then City will have a very tough midfield.

This signing is even further indication that Manuel Pellegrini is being lined up by City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak to become the next City boss, after Mancini was sacked a few weeks ago after a disappointing campaign with the Citizens. Pellegrini is said to be a big admirer of Brazilian international Fernandinho, who has been involved in several trophy-winning sides in Shakhtar, the Ukrainian club he has been with for the last seven years, including six league title wins.

Like with Navas, the contract length and pay have been undisclosed, but it is rumoured Fernandinho has been given a 4-year deal on £50k a week, and will wear the number 25 shirt for the Blues. Generally, City fans are happy with the purchase, although some are wondering whether they have overpaid for a player yet to prove himself in this league. However, they are eager to see what he can do in the sky blue kit of their team.
Fernandinho/Toure is a formidable midfield pairing indeed :)
neal09: I know, really excited about it in real life as well as in my save
How are you going to adapt to fit Navas in your style of play?
