Nani Signs For Newcastle

Gary Lineker has seriously increased his chances of European qualification this season by signing 25-year-old Portuguese winger Nani. Nani has fallen out of favour at Manchester United after some poor form and rumours of Gareth Bale or Cristiano Ronaldo joining the Red Devils had led to him handing in a transfer request.

Newcastle were first to pounce, and placed a £8 million bid for Nani - cheap considering he has over 50 caps for his country. Surprisingly, the bid was accepted and 'The Toon' were able to fight off the likes of Porto, Benfica, Arsenal and Napoli and sign him up on a £70k-per-week deal.
Nani brings with him blistering pace, remarkable flair and a dangerous shot - with Ben Arfa on the opposite side, Newcastle's wing partnership is something to be feared of.

Remy Joins The French Revolution

Last Winter, Newcastle narrowly missed out on signing French striker Loic Remy to Quids Park Rangers and the then manager Alan Pardew vowed to get him to sign up with Newcastle eventually. Since being revealed that he had a £6.5 million relegation release clause, Newcastle were circling, waiting for QPR's relegation to be confirmed.

Now, they find themselves in the Championship and without a striker as Joe Kinnear acivated the release clause. Newcastle finally get their man, who will now play backup to fans favourite Papiss Cisse.

big, Big, I mean BIG signing for you :D

90k p/w for a backup signing seems a little steep, especially with those finishing and composure attributes. Nani is a massive signing no doubt, but one day he seems like the next Bebé and the next he seems to be the next Ronaldo. Will be interesting to see how they both do for you.

Can't complain about the fees though. Done well to get them for that price

Great start to the story, always interesting to see a Gary Lineker one. Good luck with Newcastle, they were Prem winners in around the 2015/16 season in my save. Hopefully by then in your save you would have won the Champions League ;)

Glenn, what I meant was it could potentially be a contender! Worded it wrong sorry!

In-game Kinnear made the Remy signing all on his lonesome, I just confirmed it - I was a bit upset at the wages but I made a mental rule to myself that whatever signings he made I would have to agree to.
Great signings there mate! Kinnear and you are building a fantastic team (despite some high wages)! :D

Very good fees for those players I believe. Keep it up though, looking forward to seeing how this develops! :)
Great signings, Remy and Nani will help you reach the European stages and maybe you could push for the Champions League.
Really enjoying this story so far, keep it up mate.

P.S. The banner looks nice!

Newcastle Unveils New Signings

Newcastle's Manager Gary Lineker and Director of Football Joe Kinnear unvieled their new signings today at a press conference. The club has been busy this summer with no less than £24.5 million being spent on incoming transfers. With dreams of Europe looming, the squad needed to be strengthened with top quality players, here we digest some of the transfers made.

Nani is undisputably the 'marquee' signing of this transfer window. He brings with him european experience playing at the highest level. After falling out of favour with new United manager David Moyes, he made the quick trip to Newcastle for a fee of £8m.
Name: Nani
Fee: £8.0 million
Wage: £70k-per-week
Contract Expiry: Jun 2016

Although he was not the smartest signing, Joe Kinnear had some sort of mind on him when he announced that QPR's Remy was making a £6.5 million switch up to Newcastle. Because of QPR's relegation, Remy could be signed for a small price of just £6.5 million - meaning that the extra money spent on wages make up for the money saved on the fee.
Name: Loic Remy
Fee: £6.5 million
Wage: 90k-per-week
Contract Expiry: Jun 2017

Eyebrows were raised when Kinnear announced the signing of Gabon international defender Bruno Mango. Although young and clear has room for improvement - the 24-year-old has relitivealy poor tackling ability. He does make up for this in his bravery, anticipation and positioning - but questions are being asked as to whether he commanded such a high fee.
Name: Bruno Manga
Fee: £7.25 million
Wage: £22.5k-per-week
Contract Expiry: Jun 2016

Good sing Nani and Remy .
Good luck, and you go right team.

August: A Steady Start

http://i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t614/Quipton/2013-07-0316_55_05-FootballManager2013_zpscbe2ce4f.png
Gary Lineker got his Newcastle career of to a steady start, picking up four out of six possible points with a 1-0 win against fierce rivals Sunderland and a 0-0 draw against Stoke. Lineker had previously gone on record stating how much Newcastle had to win that first game - not only because it could potentially start a run, but because it is "always nice to get one over on your rivals".
Along with a good start in the league, Newcastle also passed through to the next round of the Capital One Cup, with a 4-0 win over Huddersfield. They will now play current European champions Chelsea in round two.

Author's Note

There was no league table this month as I forgot to take a screenshot. Sorry - but I can assure you I was tenth going into September!
It definitely is nice to get a win over your damn rivals :P
