Poll: A Fish Out of Water Experiment - Santos

Other than a random 6th in the Premier League and a Capital One Cup Final Santos failed to make much of an impression in the English leagues. Selling Neymar to United was probably not the best move ever but apart from a few good signings it looks like they simply couldn't attract the quality of player they needed to make headway.

Financially the club is stable and developing well, maybe another 10 years would see them grow into a force to be reckoned with... but it is this mad scientist's opinion that any club who had Neymar to sell early on would be able to do the same.

Conclusion

Santos failed.

I wasted my time on this.

But I'm happy I did it

I intend to make experiments like this a more regular part of my FM related lifestyle. This first one was simply to see if i could bend the database to my will and have something tangible to show at the end of it.

Future experiments will contain more text, have more in-depth analysis and ultimately a solid conclusion about the overall results of the experiment.

I'm happy to accept suggestions on experiments to run, although i do have a few already lined up

i would like to see a how a bene league would turn out (league with Belgium and Netherlands combined)

Combining leagues is a loooot of work, if i can find a pre-made database i'll run a few seasons for you but otherwise i don't think i'll be able to sorry mate.

My next undertaking is seeing how a combined Great Britain would perform at international level, an article coming this way sometime soon

I think I will try the same with teams as CSKA Moscow, Besiktas, Lyon, Valencia, Napoli, Ajax, Dinamo Kiev...

hm, Snatos became a yoyo that couldn't recruit and keep a manager. interesting.

When i have time i'll run another 5 to see if anything interesting happens, if it does maybe i'll keep it going a bit longer and see just how long it is until Santos basically become Reading/Wigan lol

As for Sifficult, i chose not to comment in case it was some slang you young people are using these days and i didn't want to show my age by questioning it
