Tottenham manager, Andre Villas-boas has began the squad exodus by placing the head of Englishman Scott Parker on the guillotine; while Clint Dempsey's has been chopped clean off.
It is believed that the two have been made surplus to requirements by the Portugese manager, and had even gone as far as placing the two in the reserves.
Following a season where the club made a loss of £-100,000,000, the manager needed to fee up funds; and with the two picking up a rather large wage packet, especially for their roles in the squad, AVB felt that it was time to move them on.
Both players have played a bit-part role under AVB last season, with the manager overlooking them for the likes of Sandro and Sigurdsson respectively. Both Scott and Clint mainly saw their starts limited in the Premier League, often getting their starts in cup competitions, such as the Europa League and the Capital One Cup.
Last season, Scott made a total of 33 appearances for the team last year, 16 of which were from the bench. While the defensive midfielder played well, it is believed with the return of Argentinian youngster Lucas Romero, and the strong performances of Sandro, the players game time would be very limited. Both Newcastle and Aston Villa are believed to be interested, with Spurs holding out for around £3,500,000 for the player.
Clint Dempsey, who has all ready departed the club, managed an overall total of 30 appearances, scoring 12 times and getting 4 assists across all competitions. AVB was willing to let the American go, with Portuguese side, Porto, snapping up the talented, but aging midfielder up for a fee believed to be around £4,000,000.
Sky Sports sources also understands that the club are willing to listen to offers for full back Adam Smith, attacking midfielder Iago Falqué and goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes.
