I really don't think we will miss him at all. Luiz and Cahill are a very good partnership with them getting better and better in terms of their attributes.

0 - 1

Dennis Wise speaking to TalkSport:

Overall the game went to plan with us creating a lot of chances. I do have to say I was disappointed in the fact that out of the sixteen chances we created we only managed to convert one. This at times has been an issue for us this season but then again you have to remember that sometimes it can only take one goal in order to win like it did today.

City was always going to be a tough team to beat with them boasting a huge number of high quality players in their starting line up, never mind their bench. I am sure that with their quality they will be extremely disappointed that they will come away this season without winning anything after the season they had previous. Would I say that Mancini could possibly be shown the door? I don’t think so. Clubs are too quick to dismiss managers if they go one season without winning anything. You didn’t see United sacking Fergie when he didn’t win the title in 1995.

In terms of my future at Chelsea this is unknown, well, I haven’t had a conversation with Roman but instead I have explained to him that I want to get this season out of the way before planning for the future. I can categorically say that I have not rejected a contract from the board as one has not been offered. Already this season we have won three trophies and I want us to win more with the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League trophies hopefully still to come.
Great win :P
Good away win :)
wellsy1498: I do love your very short straight to the point posts. City are always going to be a tough team to beat but we did play well and deserved to go through to the next round.

LFC: Another short straight to the point post but it is greatly appreciated. The match went well but I do think the change I will make to future posts is that I will include what round of the competition it was :)

Champions League Semi Final – First Leg

2 - 1

Chelsea versus Barcelona has always been tight affairs with there not being much been between the two teams and this encounter was no different. Chelsea could not have asked for a better start with Branislav Ivanovic, who has been rested in recent games by Dennis Wise, met a floated Andre Ayew corner and headed past Valdes in the Barcelona goal. This early appeared to settle the obvious nerves in the Chelsea side and a few of them, including Wise, could not quite believe their luck to have got a goal so early in the tie.

What then happened was a disgrace to the sport with five players all being booked for rash tackles before the end of the first half. It seemed like to the spectators that Barcelona were out to kick Chelsea off the pitch with their players receiving four of the five yellow cards. A moment of stupidity from Andre Ayew three minutes into the second half saw him receive his second yellow card and be sent to the dressing room. This meant that Chelsea had to face the majority of the second half with 10 men, which is no mean feat against FC Barcelona.

Radamel Falcao has not had the best of starts to his Chelsea career with him having being injured within days of signing for the club. When he has been given game time he has seemed to be lacking match fitness, which has not allowed him to make the mark on the game that he is capable of doing. Hence the Chelsea fans surprise when Dennis Wise decided to start with Falcao instead of the superb Lewandowski. However, as Wise has done so many times already this season, he showed why they should never have doubted him. Eight minutes into the second half, despite being down to ten men, Falcao scored a sublime goal; he ran through onto a pass from Oscar and he lobbed the ball over Valdes. Falcao has expressed his gratitude to Wise for having faith in him and he hopes he can use this as a catalyst to really kick start his Chelsea career.

Worryingly for Chelsea, Alexis Sanchez managed to grab a goal in the fourth minute of extra time which provided the Spanish side with the precious away goal. Dennis Wise has been quick to remind the media, fans and Barcelona that his side have not conceded more than seven goals in this season Premier League. He suggested that Chelsea possessed one of the best defences in the world and that the away goal would count for nothing.

Champions League Semi Final – Second Leg

0 – 0

The Nou Camp is an extremely hard place for any team to travel to and come away with a positive result. Chelsea headed into the game knowing that despite having won the first leg that Barcelona had an advantage in terms of the single away goal. This meant that Wise’s decision to set his team out in a defensive 4-5-1 formation did not surprise anyone. What did surprise fans though was his decision not to let Falcao start and try and build on his solid performance against them in the first leg. Instead Wise went for Lewandowski to start as the lone front man as the rest of the players had been given defensive duties to fulfil.

Fortunately for Chelsea this apparent ability to create a brick wall in front of their goal paid off for the Chelsea side. Despite having thirteen shots on goal, Barcelona could not get past the Chelsea goalkeeper, Cech, who was outstanding in goal. Chelsea simply sat back, let them have the ball (which is evident in the fact Barcelona came away with 61% of possession come full time) and just stepped into make challenges when needed.

Dennis Wise has had praise heaped on him for his tactical awareness and his ability to react to different scenarios. Wise has expressed his delight at stopping the Barcelona attack, which meant they would progress to successive Champions League finals. He said the team would go into the final confident of retaining their trophy and winning it for the second time in the club’s history.
We're going to Wembley!

...or wherever the final is.

I'm quite far ahead in the game so can't remember off the top of my head where the final was but we have definitely gone there!

Wise Signs On

There has been a lot of speculation surrounding the future of Dennis Wise, who at the beginning of the season signed a one year contract which meant that his future was always going to be in doubt despite any success that they could potentially have. However, the Chelsea board of directors could not have expected Wise to have guided the team to the success that they have enjoyed so far this season. So far this season Chelsea has added three more trophies to their cabinet; the Community Shield, the European Super Cup and the Club World Championship.

Wise has been quizzed many times recently, especially after the semi final win against FC Barcelona, about whether he was going to sign a new contract and if one had even been offered. Chelsea has become a club renowned for sacking manager’s after a short period of time. However, there is not a chance that Chelsea wanted to let Wise go, hence the owner, Roman Abramovich has offered Wise a five year deal which has been accepted by the former England international and Chelsea player.

The board of directors have expressed their delight that Wise has agreed to sign a contract for such a long period of time. Roman has spoken of his happiness that he has managed to convince one of the best upcoming managers to sign a new contract that will see him master the restructure of the club to ensure that their success this year can continue for years to come.

Wise has released a statement to the media:

”I am delighted to tell you that I have agreed to sign a contract at my beloved Chelsea Football Club which will see me at the helm for the next five years. I would like to thank Mr Abramovich for giving me this opportunity and I will start to pay back his faith in me back from this point onwards. The fans this season have been incredible in the support they have shown me and the players; I cannot thank them enough for what they have done, they have been the 12th man so many times this season. I hope that the Chelsea fans are pleased with the decision and I would like to take this opportunity to promise them that I will do my best to bring more success to the club that I and they love.

Terry: We can beat Spurs

Despite recent speculation in the media that Dennis Wise is trying to remove the “old guard” by selling John Terry and refusing to negotiate a new contract with Frank Lampard, it was a surprise to everyone that Terry was the chosen player at the recent press conference to discuss the build up to the upcoming FA Cup Final. Terry appeared very relaxed in his answering of the questions with him refusing to discuss his own future.

Terry said that, ”Chelsea has been the best team in Europe this season by far. No other side has achieved what we have. No other side is going to look back on their season with as much pride as we will. It will be brilliant to add the FA Cup to trophy cabinet as it is one of the best domestic cup competitions in the world and it is one that everyone wants to win.

It is going to be a tense affair of course; Spurs are a very good side with some excellent players who can cause any defence a lot of trouble. However, we are fortunate to possess a number of players who can create a lot of chances and put them away. This has been evident in the fact that Robert (Lewandowski) has scored 30 goals in his first season in English football.”

When asked about whether the game has already been won due to Gareth Bale being injured for Spurs he replied, “ No one player will win this game for either team. Gareth is a big miss for them as he can create something out of nothing. However, they still have other dangerous players who could still win the game for their side.

After some deliberation I have decided to end this story. Playing as Chelsea is just too damn easy...heck I won everything possibly, apart from the CoC, in my first season and I can tell from the way it is panning it that I will do it again every season. Why play a save where everything just comes to you so easy? That is why I like stories like Wellsy's...it was too easy, so he made a change, so I am following his advice but just by bringing the save to an end.

Apologies to anyone that was an avid reader of this story but I want to get back to the "old" days and write a story like my LFC one! Thank you all.
