From Out Of The Night; Sounders Land Fox
It comes as a surprise for fans and pundits alike, as today Seattle announce the signing of
Danny Fox from Southampton £600K.
With the position for left back on offer since Leonardo Gonzalez's
training ground spat, may were surprised that Seattle turned to England to fill that role.
Fox originally started off his career through the Everton youth team, before being loaned to Scottish Stranrear in 2004. After his contract had expired at Goodison Walsall were quick to pounce on him, and sign him on a free in 2005, where he made 113 appearances scoring 6 goals. 2007 saw a £400K move to Coventry, where he would last for 2 years before Celtic snapped him up for £1.5M, then a year later Burnley for £1.8M. In 2011, Southampton saw his talents and too paid £1.8 for the Scot taking them to the premiership.
"I'm excited" said manager Abbott. "Obviously since the role was vacant we needed a replacement, and Danny Fox has all the talent to fill that role and succeed."
"I've heard all about the MLS" said Fox. " I've heard how big the fan-base is, and how respected the player are. I can't wait to be involved in that. I hope to help Seattle in succeeding to win the MLS for the first time in its history."
Fox has been handed the number 14 shirt, and is expected to start against Houston.
