TERRY BUTCHER UNVEILED AS NEW HIBERNIAN MANAGER

http://i3.dailyrecord.co.uk/incoming/article1856047.ece/ALTERNATES/s615/Terry-Butcher-1856047.jpg

Hibernian have today unveiled former Inverness CT manager, Terry Butcher as the club's new manager. Butcher's appointment comes after the sacking of Pat Fenlon who did not have the best of times at Easter Road during his time. Hibs have been playing well below their reputation and expectations in the past few seasons but Hibs chairman, Rod Petrie insists that Butcher and his no nonsense managerial approach will inspire the players to achieve more and give the club's fans the success they deserve. Butcher: "It was tough for me to leave Inverness after all my time there. I loved every second of it and would like to thank everyone at club from the players, to the board and to the fans for what they did for me but in all honesty it was a no-brainer moving to Hibs. They are a massive club that have not been achieving what was expected of them but I hope to rectify that as this is a good squad and with a few signings I think we could get back on track and aim for European football next season.

Going to knuckle down now and get my pre-season underway. Updates will be monthly on the game so expect more on this story soon.
Good luck, I quite like Terry Butcher actually :)
Thanks & yeah so do I :)
Good luck I always enjoy a Scottish story :D
Good luck. I can't remember seeing many Scottish stories around so it will be great to follow this one.

Still looking to bring in some more players as the squad is pretty tight. Updates on transfers and the review of the first month of the season coming up as we were given the hardest possible start to the campaign with a trip to Celtic Park before home games to end the month against Dundee, Inverness and St Johnstone.

Some nice signings :P
Thanks! don't like spending a lot of money and since I'm a Hibs fan, I had a pretty good idea of the players I would be getting rid of. Wanted to sell Deegan and Taiwo but could only get them out on loan :)
Hibs snap up Caley midfielder

Terry Butcher has added Owain Tudur-Jones to his list of summer signings by bringing in one of his former Inverness CT players, Owain Tudur-Jones for a fee around £220k.
Tudur-Jones had this to say when we caught up with him at Hibs training ground this afternoon: "I knew Terry and Ross Draper well obviously which made it a lot easier to come here. It was difficult to say goodbye to Caley and I'm thankful for their support but I've taken this decision which I believe to be the best one for my career and I'm now looking forward to try and get European football with Hibs".

Painter agrees Hibernian switch

Marcos Painter has joined Hibernian from Brighton as Butcher's mass Easter Road turn around continues. Painter enjoyed a good three years at Brighton which earned him a deal at Easter Road for a fee believed to be in the region of £350k. Butcher: "It's fantastic to get Marcos in for the price we did. He is a quality player and we were short of players at left back. He is an excellent professional and a very good addition to our squad".

Pele and Foran join Hibernian

Irish winger, Richie Foran and Portugese star, Pele have joined Hibernian as both agreed contracts with Hibs today. Foran joins from Inverness for a fee of £150k and Pele has joined Hibs on a free. Foran: "I am delighted to be here. There seems to be a bit of a Inverness to Hibs theme going on at the moment and I'm really pleased to have joined Ross and Owain here. They're both good lads who have got off to a great start here. I can't wait to join up with the squad and pull on the green and white of Hibs". Pele joins Hibs with an excellent pedigree having played for clubs ranging from Benfica, Porto and most recently Valladolid. Butcher had this to say about Pele and Foran: "Richie was a great guy and a leader at Caley. He was always going to be one of my targets and Pele is a massive deal for the club as he come with an outstanding history and just goes to show how big a club this is".
Really pleased with the Pele capture:

August review

An excellent start to August as Hibs take 5 wins from 5 including a 2-1 home win in the League Cup against Queen of the South and an amazing 1-0 victory over Celtic on the opening day in Glasgow. The other three league games were all at Easter Road as Hibs recorded two 1-0 wins against St Johnstone and Dundee along with a very comfortable 3-0 triumph over Butcher's old boys Inverness.

Excellent start to the season for the Hibees and Terry Butcher with a 100% record in August. The transfer window is now closed meaning no more business will be done until at least January and Hibs have been drawn at home to Ross County in the Scottish League Cup 3rd round.
Player of the month: Paul Hanlon.
