End of the season
By Steven Goff Published November 19, 2013 at 3:45 PM

One day ago DC united lost their second leg match against Houston 1-1 (2-4 agg). It was a hard loss everyone involved with DC United this season. The team rallied around coach Olsen as he lead the team very fan into the playoffs without the help of star player Dwayne De Rosario. Here is an awesome picture of Tifo that was displayed at the match. (FYI I was a part of that haha)

I was able to get a hold of Ben (Olsen)a few hours ago to get his recap for the season and his goals for next year.

SG: Hey Ben, thank you for taking your time out to talk with me.

BO: No problem.

SG: What do you have to say about thew season?

BO: Wow!! What can I say. I am very proud of this club and the fans our 12th man at home really gave us an advantage and we needed it.

SG: Have you started thinking about next season?

BO: Not really it has only been a day and I need a few weeks to gather my thoughts and meet with the staff about next season.

SG: Have a good offseason and once again congratulations on an excellent season!

BO: Thanks Steve you too.

Shamrock Rovers are close to announcing their new manager. There are about four major candidates that the board is looking at.

Trevor Croly

Ben Olsen

Martin O'Neill

Bruce Arena

It is interesting to see that two of the coaches are from America and both have good resumes. We here at RTE believe Martin O'Neill will take the job!

Breaking News

Today 5 January 2013 Shamrock Rovers FC have finally signed up a new manager. It is Ben Olsen an American who was the head coach of DC united. He comes to Tallaght Stadium with about two and a half years of management experience. Mr. Olsen will be here in Dublin in the coming weeks to get the preseason underway and get ready for a successful 2013 campaign. We will notify the media when the introductory press conference is.

Shamrock Rovers press Conference

January 22, 2013

J: Welcome to Dublin Ben!! How are you adjusting?

BO: I am great I love this city and it feels so welcoming.

J: As you know SRFC is the most successful club in Ireland and last season was a disappointment. What are your plans?

BO: Well this club has the talent and can win the league this season. We just need to train hard and focus on each match.

J: Do you have a specific tactic in mind?

BO: Yes I am planning on using a 4-2-3-1.

J: Is there anything else?

BO: Not right now.

J: Thank you and good luck

End of February Report

The Hoops continued their preseason in strong form all through the month. Winning against clubs such as Mervue Utd, Finn Harps and Salthill Devon. The other result was a draw against Longford Town. Other major events for The Hoops included the opening round of the Setanta Sports Cup against Crusaders of the NIFL Premiership. The next match will be against Portadown on 12/3/13.

Leg 2:

The next match for SRFC will be the on 1/3/2013 against Derry City in Derry. Our first home match will be on 5/3/13 against Bray Wanderers.

Tickets are still available for the home opener.

What a month for Shamrock Rovers and their manager Ben Olsen. They won every match in both league and Setanta cup play. Coach Olsen told us that the reason for this is the system being put in place. System you ask? Yeah it is your typical German attacking 4-2-3-1. Shamrock will be playing Mervue Utd. on April 4th in the League of Ireland Cup Second Round. Also later next month SRFC will be facing Derry City in the SSC Quarter Final.

Fixtures

League Table

Player of the Month:
Mark Quigley with a total of 9 goals (7 league and 2 Cup)

April Update

Good news for Shamrock Rovers fans. They beat Derry in the SSC Semi Final and will now be playing Sligo Rovers in the final. On the league front SRFC is still on top of the league but lost to our rivals St. Patrick's Athletic.

Breaking News

Today Monday 13 May 2013 Premier League Club Newcastle United has announced a link with Shamrock Rovers of The League of Ireland. Newcastle just finished up their 2013/14 season with a slightly disappointing 14th place. Meanwhile Shamrock Rovers are in first place even after a shocking 4-0 loss to Derry City.

Ben Olsen (SRFC Manager) was quoted in saying "This is one of the biggest days here for the club. I am excited to see how the partnership works out and can not wait to meet Alan (Pardew)."

Manager Ben Olsen has been with Shamrock Rovers since January 2013.
Nice :) A bit of advice is to try and add a bit more text to your updates

Thanks man early on it is boring but right now it is about to get crazy good where more story will be shown.

Setanta Cup Final

Prematch thoughts
Ah today is May 18th the morning of the Setanta Cup Final. Honestly I am very nervous about this match for two reasons. One it is my first final as a manager and secondly I feel the pressure of the club. If we win we are the best club in all of Ireland and if we get beat well you know. In my short time with the hoops I feel I have accomplished some amazing things. What is crazy is that I almost did not want to take the job when it was offered back in January but we are here and I am happy.

Prematch Press conference

J:Ben how are you feeling today?

BO: There are a lot of emotions going through my head at the moment and I am just ready to get the match over.

J: What will be you key to a victory?

BO: We need to play sound defence and have nice clean passes in order to win. Sligo is a damn good club and I expect them to go hard for the full 90.

J: Any last thoughts?

BO: I believe we can win this match but it will be very close.

The Match

Shamrock Rovers Foootball Club win the 2013 Setanta Sports Cup

What a beautiful day to be a supporters of the green and white. Coach Ben Olsen has won his first major trophy with this club. This is their second SSC trophy since the competition began in 2005. It was all square until Stephen Rice scored in the 72nd minute. Later Sligo's Danny North equalized in the 84th minute. After it was all square at 90 the match went into extras where it was not until the 114th minute when Rice scored his second goal that gave The Hoops the victory.
