The Battle of the Hoops.

It is a very exciting time for both Celtic and Shamrock fans. It has been 27 years since they have played each other in European Competition.

Leg 1:

What a poor performance from the visiting Rovers. They got blanked 5-0. With one more match to go can SRFC make a comeback or will they be packing their bags for Europa league?

Leg 2:

This time it was better for SRFC as they get beat 0-1. This means Celtic advance by a total score of 6-0. You got to feel bad for the Rovers but congratulations on a great run. They were never supposed to make it this far. Next up for Celtic, the group stage. For SRFC it is Europa League!!

Since the last update things are still going good. we are still on that big winning streak in the league and will not let up. Also we have advanced to the semis of the FAI Cup. Other major competitions include Europa League and the EA Sports Cup.

Let me first give you guys the 411 on the Celtic Mach. Honestly I though it would have been closer but things happen. Even though we got killed 6-0 I am still proud of the boys. Many media outlets did not even give us a chance to advance past Portadown. We showed them and Rovers Nation should be proud.

With that loss we were able to compete in Europa League. I am hoping that we have a good run here. Honestly I do not think we can advance, but we will work hard. I found it funny that we have the lowest coefficient in the group stage. On September 18th we started the campaign against Trabzonspor and tied them 1-1. I am not upset about that because the way we played was excellent and the team completed 75% of the goals for the match.

Finally we beat Derry City in the EA Sports Cup final. The final score was 3-1. I am pleased that we were able to add trophy number 6 since I joined the club last year.

Talk with you soon!!

Ben Olsen is now part of the USSF Hall of Fame

The former United States International is going into the USSF Hall of Fame.

Ben Olsen has at least staked his claim that he is one of the most successful American Managers of all time, boasting a managerial record that is comparable to the greats.

Olsen started his managerial career back in the Summer of 2010 when he took over for DC United. But it wasn't until he joined Shamrock Rovers in January 2013 that he started winning trophies.

The accomplished Shamrock Rovers boss has shown himself to be no stranger to success and is likely to add to his growing collection of silverware in the future.

Newcastle United sack Pardew

Alan Pardew has been sacked by Newcastle United Chairman Mike Ashley.

He had been at Newcastle United since December 2010, having previously managed Southampton. So far this season Newcastle have been disappointing in the Premier League so far this season and finding themselves in 17th place.

Speculation is heating up as to who will be Pardew's replacement at St James' Park, with Cardiff City Manager Chris Powell seeming the most likely man for the job.

It's Possible that Eddie Howe, Steve McClaren, Ian Holloway and Ben Olsen could also be in contention for the job if Powell stays at Cardiff City.

Earlier we reported that Newcastle United approached Shamrock Rovers Manager Ben Olsen to become the new manager. Well about 10 minutes ago Sky Sports reported that he has infarct agreed to become the next manager. Even though he was enjoying life in Dublin, it was reported that it felt like he could do all he could do with the club and Newcastle seemed like the right fit.

Update;
4:15 P.M.
Manager Ben Olsen will have a farewell press conference later this evening. Stay tuned for more information!!

Statement from the club regarding Manager Ben Olsen

We here at Shamrock Rovers are saddened to hear that Ben will no longer be our manager. He has been a great leader and has done so much for the club. Since he took over in January of 2013 SRFC have won two league titles and 6 trophies. He will not be able to attend the press conference that was slated for today but wrote a letter to the club and fans.

Johnathan Roache
Chairnman, SRFC

Dear Olsen's Army,

I am extremely saddened to announce my resignation as the manager of our beloved club. I have been talking with Newcastle for about two weeks now and both the club and i decided that I would be the man for the job. This might be one of the hardest decisions I have ever made. I had to delay the move a few times just because I knew how important I am to the club and community.

We have had a lot of fun since I took over and have shocked Europe in the past year. I hope Mr. Roache finds a suitable replacement for me and the new manager brings the success that I did. I will always love this club and will be looking out for your results. I hope our paths cross again someday and maybe I could be back!! Good luck in the coming season and keep the trophies coming in.

Your Friend,
Ben Olsen.
My first day

So I arrived at St. James Park a few hours before there match against Aston Villa. I was extremely excited for the day. As I walked in the door I was greeted by Mr. Ashley and he said "welcome Ben we are glad you are here." So he took me on a tour of the stadium and facilities. aThe best part was when I got to head to the pitch for the first time. My god it is beautiful.

After that I meet with Willie Donachie who was acting manager for the match since there was no Assistant Manager at the time. We shook hands and I wished him luck. Later on Mike told me that after the match I would be going out on the pitch to be introduced.

Ah it was good to see the team beat Aston Villa by the score of 2-0. After the match the crowd was told that I would be there to introduce myself. I walk out and hear the crowd start singing my name. They were singing "Benny Olsen clap (3x)."

Here it goes!!
Announcer: We would like to welcome our new manager Ben Olsen!!!!!!!!!!!
BO: Hello everyone this is an exciting day for us here at Newcastle. I am to fix the problems that the last manager caused and WE WILL become league champions within the next five year. I will guide us to Europa league glory this year. Also one of my main goals is to bring the best possible players available. This will be a revolution Olsen's Army is here to stay!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mignolet Signs With Newcastle

New Manager Ben Olsen has made his first major transfer just days into his new reign. The Magpies have signed 26 year old Belgian International Simon Mignolet from Liverpool for a fee of $5,250,000. Mignolet is said to be really happy about his new move. Since joining Liverpool from Sunderland in 2013 Simon has only played in six matches. Manager Ben Olsen is looking to bring in new faces to a squad that has disappointing so far this season.
