Newcastle United have splashed the cash on Javier Hernandez from Manchester United in what was a long drawn out process in which both sides refused to budge on the asking price. Initially Manchester United had transfer-listed the forward at an asking price of £12,000,000, but when offer was put on the table from Newcastle they decided the raise the asking price to £14,000,000. Newcastle matched this price and once again United lifted the asking price to £17,000,000. Ginola refused to budge this time and kept submitting £14,000,000 for the player. After weeks of debating Manchester United finally accepted the bid and a deal was struck.

Hernandez joins Newcastle United on a long 5 year deal and is said to be ecstatic at the move to Newcastle and looks forward to joining up with his teammates.

The first bit of silverware will be up for grabs when Newcastle United play Manchester United in the Community Shield.

Newcastle United have landed Cameroonian central defender Joel Matip from Schalke in a deal thought to be around £6,750,000.

Matip's arrival has delighted the fans, with the supporter spokesperson Ryan Thorpe revealing that the deal was a major coup for the club and Schalke really should have demanded a higher fee for the player.
