Hi Guys & Girls

After my Newcastle save decided to crash dump and then corrupt (learnt the lesson I need to save every week on a 3 file auto save and not every 6 months on a single file!) I have decided to do a save with good old Sampdoria!

I remember watching Goal Lazio on channel 4 when I was younger and Sampdoria were one of my favourite teams to watch :)

News on the new manager appointment imminent!

Good Luck!

Sampdoria hire Souness

U.C Sampdoria have hired former player Graeme Souness to be the new manager with immediate effect.

Souness was the captain of the successful Liverpool team of the early 1980s and player-manager of Rangers in the late 1980s as well as captain of the Scottish national team. He also played for Tottenham Hotspur, Middlesbrough and Sampdoria in a long career. Following his retirement from playing he managed Rangers, Liverpool, Southampton, Benfica, Galatasaray, Blackburn Rovers and Newcastle United.
Souness has also done media work working as a pundit for RTÉ, ESPN, Sky Sports and Al Jazeera Sports.

Time at Sampdoria

Souness left Liverpool in 1984, joining Sampdoria for a fee of £650,000. Souness and England international Trevor Francis – a player at the Genoa-based club since 1982 – added experience to an emerging group of future Italian internationals, including Roberto Mancini, Pietro Vierchowod and Gianluca Vialli. In his first season, Sampdoria won the Coppa Italia with a 3–1 victory over Serie A rivals AC Milan, securing the trophy for the first time in the club's history.
Souness's career in Italy ended in 1986 as he took up the position of player-manager at Rangers, making a further 50 league appearances before retiring as a player in 1991 at the age of 38.

Souness is pleased to have joined his former club now as manager and looks to take Sampdoria back to the dizzy heights of the 90's

"I will push them!"

http://static.guim.co.uk/sys-images/Sport/Pix/columnists/2012/2/14/1329223877511/Graeme-Souness-007.jpg

Graeme Souness spoke in his first press conference earlier today and set out his approach for his Sampdoria side this season.

Souness explained that there would be no let up in his preparations for this season in Serie A and would be looking for the team to achieve at least mid table if not higher.

Sampdoria are not expected to challenge for any honours this season as the media have predicted them to finish 14th in the league and expectedly so Souness was not happy with this.

Souness - "I will expect my players to work hard and dedicate themselves to the cause and what we are trying to achieve at this club. Sampdoria is a proud club and have been in somewhat of a decline for the past 15 years and now it is time to get them back to where they belong!"

It was reported Souness has already rattled some cages in the Sampdoria camp in a bust up with one of the coaches over tactics.

More to follow soon!
Great updates Poachy, great start to your story :D

Souness - "its been a good pre-season for us"

Souness - "We have had a good pre-season and lads are raring to go! The players have adapted well to the system I have put in place and we will be looking to take it the opposition in every game. I may look to bring in some players as there is some money to spend but they have to be the right player, hard-working and a team player. We are all looking forward to the first game now!"

Reporter - "Have the players got used to your Scottish accent?"

Souness - "What kind of question is that, are you actually a reporter?, go away you muppett!"
Some great results mate! defeating Porto is never easy. Good luck!

August & September Review

Souness - "Could do better"

http://s746.photobucket.com/user/poachy2/media/year%201%20august%20-sept/EQUIPE_SAMPDORIA_DE_GENES_zpsda382aa5.jpg.html

Souness - "We have had an ok month but we could do better even though we have faced off against some of the stronger sides in the league. The win away at Juventus was a particular highlight as we stood firm and didn't let them get many chances. I know it will take a few months for the players to settle into my way of playing but once they do, i'm sure we will reap the benefits!"

Great update and good layout. I am sure you can push up the table!
It looks to be a good challenge. In my save, Sampdoria win the Serie A after a few seasons, although my save is full of all sorts of shenanigans. Best of luck. Will you be going with the tactic of selling academy products and buying foreigners/Brazilians? Or?
