Chelsea - Replicating United

My tribute to Sir Alex Ferguson

As Didier Drogba stepped up to take the final penalty, it seemed the moment had been written in the stars. Drogba, the man who so often through the years had carried Chelsea almost single handed, who was making his final appearance for the club before moving to China, who epitomised everything about a Chelsea team that was about to undergo a radical transition, was the man destiny had chosen to go down in history. As the ball hit the back of the net, Roman Abramovich’s dream was finally realised, the big-eared trophy was coming back to Stamford Bridge. They’d done it the hard way, but Chelsea were finally European Champions. But then came the morning after, and the questions began, where do we go from here? Will Roman remain as committed as before, now that he has achieved his quest for European glory? Will the club stick with the aging stars of the Mourinho era, or embark on a new project? Will Roberto Di Matteo remain as manager to build on his remarkable accomplishments, or will a new man be brought in? How do you top a night like Munich? Welcome to Chelsea Football Club 2012/13.

Sums it all up, personally my favourite video, albeit long

The first piece of news came from Chelsea's official Twitter @Chelseafc: "Dowley set to join Chelsea. More to come..."

The official announcement tweet by @Chelseafc: "Joe Dowley set to join Chelsea as our new manager! Full story here: http://www.chelseafc.com/" was retweeted 620,149 times.

The former Brazil international is reported to be on £43,000 per week, and has been given a contract until the end of the season, with chairman Roman Abramovich confirming that Dowley will be handed a new contract in the midst of the season if the move works out.

Abramovich wrote on the club website: "A very warm welcome to Joe Dowley who will be joining us as a manager. His skills as a player are unknown, but we think he is the man to lead the club forward. As a man who has worked with clubs like Flamengo and Santos, in Brazil, I am very confident he can bring his experience to Chelsea and hopefully emulate the success he had as a player."

Dowley will start duties as Chelsea manager effective immediately.

But who really is Joe Dowley?

Oh I know :P ....just to have a 'dynasty' :P

Who is Joe Dowley?

Joe Dowley is a 25 year-old ex-Brazilian international. He was capped just once for Brazil, in a closed-doors friendly. He played 12 club games in his career, scoring 4 goals. The 25 year-old, however, received a career-ending ankle injury after slipping in a puddle playing football.

Dowley, who's mother is from Brighton, went to live with his Brazilian father in Sao Paulo after his parents split up. Not much else is known, other than that Dowley met Abramovich when he was 16 years-old.
Nice start, but surely you can't replicate United!
