Tottenham sign Chicharito
Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed the singing of Javier Hernandez from ,Manchester United, for an undisclosed fee . The Mexican was bought following the departure of Jermaine Defoe to United for 12 million. Hernandez signed a 5 year contract with the club and will be earning something around 82,000 per week. Before now, Hernandez moving to Spurs was just speculation and some thought was just a silly rumor, but now its reality.
Hernandez will hopefully solve Tottenham's striking problems and will definitely be the main man at Spurs. We know Tottenham are looking to get rid of Emmanuel Adebayor and buy a younger, yet proven striker. The North London side won't miss Defoe too much as everything he possess, Hernandez has too, and possibly to a better extent. Chicharito will be hoping to help Tottenham qualify for the champions league, even if it means they don't finish above Arsenal. In a press conference the Mexican spoke about joining Tottenham, he said "I'm happy that I'm now a Tottenham player, United is a great team but I wasn't happy there. This is a big club and I want to help them with all their hopes and goals."
The signing of Hernandez, shows Tottenham's renewed ambition. This is a reasonably smart signing as Hernandez is a young player, only 24 years old and has a bright future. The Mexican is blessed with good pace and clinical finishing. He's a threat in the air and has proved over and over again he's a goalscorer for United. Unfortunately for Hernandez the competition at United was massive. He was competing with the likes of Rooney, Van Persie and Danny Welbeck. He just had to leave.
Chicharito will wear his favored number 14 shirt at White Hart Lane. Tottenham are currently on tour in America, so Chicharito will have to wait a few days before meeting up with his new teammates. Just before he signed, a few Chigwell locals had reported seeing him driving around looking at houses. One fan managed to get a photograph of Hernandez in his car.
Tottenham will be looking to bring in a few more players, as they aim to add some depth alongside with quality to their squad. Reports say Tottenham are looking to sign a midfielder and defender.
