It has been confirmed that Crystal Palace manager Gus Poyet has been handed a new contract by Chairman Steve Parish. Mr.Parish is believed to be ecstatic with how well Gus has done so far into his first year as manager. Talking to the Crystal Palace website, he said "Gus has been great - he's been amazing. I was worried coming into the new season. Clubs strengthen and we became considerably weaker with the loss of Wilfried, but Gus told me that he would do everything he could to push the team on and I feel that he has deserved a new contract."
Goalkeeper and Vice Captain Julián Speroni echo'd the words of his chairman. In an interview with Sky, before the contract had been put in place, Julián had sad that Poyet had the full backing of the team and had asked, publicly, if Gus could be awarded a new contract for the work that he had done.
Gus' contract was due to run out this summer, however it has been confirmed that the Uruguayan has put pen-to-paper on a three year contract extension. The new deal will see him earn around £23,000 a week. It is also rumored that Poyet wanted to sign an extension so badly, he declined the original offer of £28,000, demanding that the funds be use elsewhere within the club.

Interesting to see Poyet giving the club money in other places but I don't really see how an extra £5,000 a week can help at a Premier League club

In recent days it has surfaced that 63 year old Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger is looking to add to his squad to help push on and secure the Premier League trophy. Arsenal are currently one point ahead of London rivals Chelsea, with 54 points in 25 games. It's believed that Arsene is ready to spend big, with several names being chucked into the mix. One name that has been popping up over the past few weeks is Ghanaian and Marseille winger André Ayew.
Speaking to the press after Arsenal's 1-0 defeat, Wenger spoke of his admiration of the player, even going as far to say how tempted he was to activate the 23 year old £16 million release clause. If the deal were to go ahead, it would most likely see the end to Ryo Miyachi spell at the club, who is said to be unhappy with the lack of playing time.
Miyachi arrived at The Emirates in 2010 on a free transfer. He has yet to play his first professional game for Arsenal, but has since gone on to represent Feyenoord in the Dutch division, making 12 appearances and scoring 3 goals, as well as representing Bolton Wanderers, again making 12 appearances.
Crystal Palace are rumored to be interested in the Japanese winger, however nothing official has been stated.
