End Of Season Update

So it all came down to the last few months of the season. What a remarkable story it would be if we could manage to prove all our critics wrong, defy all expectations and gain promotion from a league we were expected to finish rock bottom in. In truth we had punched above our weight all season long, but hey I was the last person who would complain about that. The fans had never seen better times at the Stade Charlety but we now had the chance to do even better.

From the last time I wrote in this diary, we had 11 games to go. We were sitting pretty in the table and recent results were good, we expected promotion, our fans now demanded it.All this was about to change. Out of our last 11 games we won just 3, drawing 4 and suffering 4 defeats too. It was a complete disaster, everything we had worked for looked as though it had just vanished in front of our own eyes. FC Nantes lifted the title after a victory against us in the second last game of the season, the same day that LEMANS confirmed their promotion.

This meant there was one place left, between ourselves and ESTAC Troyes who took advantage of our poor form and looked a team who would play Ligue 1 football next season. 1 game of the season left, we were on our worst run of form all season whereas ESTAC Troyes were on their best. Who would play their trade in Ligue 1 next season?

Great work on double promotion! Ihate PSG so I will very happy when you knock them off their perch! :D

All managers of next seasons Ligue 1 met the media today, to discuss pre-season fixtures, transfer stories and have general banter with the journalists. As expected many of the media had waited until PSG boss Carlo Ancellotti, winner of the past two Ligue 1 had to face the questions. The room emptied soon after even when clubs such as Lyon and Marseille but interestingly they flocked back in for Julien Riviere, manager of minnows Paris FC.

JR - Julien Riviere
Bryan Swanson - Sky Sports News Journalist
Steve McManaman - ESPN Reporter
Francois Duclovel - L'quipe reporter

BS -Good evening Mr.Riviere, your making quite a name for yourself over in England with your passionate media statements, you are being compared to greats like Di Canio and even Kevin Keegan. Do you strive to follow such men like these?

JR - No, and to be honest I'm not sure who Kevin Keegan is, but I am my own man. I lead not follow, that is why I am a manager. Yes okay I say things to you guys I should not but that's just who I am. I haven't been ever punished by the league authorities so I think I'm in check. I speak the truth to you though.

FC - Bonjour Monsieur Julien, Francois Duclovel from L'equipe sportif. You were interviewed by ourselves yesterday regarding your relationship with Carlo Ancellotti and you have said numerous things about him I cant repeat. How much are you looking forward to playing them next season?

JR -The man's a joke. Its a shame that when we play them I will have to look at his ugly face after the game, like what the hell is up with his eyebrows? He thinks he is France's greatest but he's a fraud, taking credit for the owners money. He's a donkey.

SM -Hello, Steve McManaman of ESPN. You were expected to get relegated last season but somehow you managed promotion. You are considered Paris FC's mesiah. What are your hopes for this season?

JR - Last season was special, and maybe the fans have got carried away but can you blame them. 2 seasons ago we averaged about 128 coming to our 25,000 seater stadium. Last season we managed to increase that over 10 times and hopefully this season against PSG we might get 20,000. Our aim is to stay in the league and get a point off our neighbours. Anything else is a welcomed bonus.

Duo set to retire

Paris FC dou Fabrice Jau and Mickael Murcy have both decided to call an end to their careers at the end of the season. Both players have written themselves into Paris FC history by playing vital roles in the back to back promtions from The Championnat National to Ligue 1.

Fabrice Jau was brought into Paris by Julien Riviere in 2012 on a free transfer. He was the first signing and began the "Paris Project". Although the oldest player in the entire squad, Fabrice managed 36 appearances scoring 3 goals and contributing 8 assists. He was voted the fans player of the year and his style of football warmed him to the adoring fans.

His second season also saw him play in 36 games scoring twice and creating 5 goals. His presence in the dressing room was the main factor in our run of form and his playmaking abilities in midfield put fear into any opposition. He will be dearly missed.

The second to retire in a matter of days was striker Mickael Murcy. He spent 3 seasons at the Stade Charlety scoring 26 goals in 85 games. His most prolific season in his career came in Julien Riviere's debut season where he was the clubs top goalscorer with an impressive 18 goals in 31 games.

With the signing of Scarpelli the following season, Murcy was used as a backup option, but still managed to find the net on 4 occasions, winning some valuable games en route to promotion.

sad to see someone retire, you'll do fine without them.

Board announce budgets

I was drafted into the boardroom where I met the chairman sitting down at the head of the table with the chief executives and directors both to the left and right respectively. The topic of discussion today was the resources that would be made available to me for the new season.

The chairman told that although the club was in it's healthiest ever financial position, there was no way we could compete with other Ligue 1 budgets. I accepted this, knowingly though I would struggle to bring in the targets I had in mind. He told me that we would meet again in a few weeks for final discussions but I think that this will be our budget.
