Real Oviedo - Back From The Dead

Mate, Truly sorry about this!

I'm sure everyone will support you in what ever you may decide, if you decide to follow through with the save, there's alternate ways to get ahead, simulate etc to where you were.. But that is up to you!

I was trying to think of an way to get your save back yet came up short but i'll keep thinking.

The Return

So, unless you’re undeniably stupid, you should be able to tell that this story has returned. I was devastated after the crash so took a little break before I decided it was time to return to the depths of the Segunda Division B, with my somewhat beloved Real Oviedo.

I knew I was not going to replay a whole 3 months worth of action, so I took the liberty of holidaying over the aforementioned months, and these were the results:



Well...job done. It may have been a little bit sloppy at times and a mere shadow of our incredible form before the crash, but it was enough. Just enough, mind, but enough nonetheless. Some massive one goal wins throughout the months saw us through.

The penultimate-weekend loss to Zamora could well have been crucial, but thankfully they were already too far behind. At that point, fate was in our own hands, all we needed was to win at home against Marino and we were home and dry....easy, right?

Unfortunately not, as we fell behind very early on to a Chus Hevia strike. Thankfully, though, we were rescued by two Diego Cervero penalties. And that was it, we came a distant 4th behind Atletico B this time, while Salamanca beat Murcia to the league title. So, this leaves me less confident of play-off success this time around, but still hopeful nonetheless.

The Final Standings

A tight affair, with just the one point separating us and Zamora. Nowhere near as promising as before, but it could’ve been a lot worse.


And to my delight, we again won the Federation Cup. After breezing past Orihuela in the semis, we this time faced off against different opponents in Castellon. Despite falling 2 goals behind in the first leg of the final, courtesy of the aptly named Lolo and Jordi Marena, we recovered and went on to score seven goals without reply. Sene scoring twice in the first leg and once in the second, and Pepe Diaz bagging a whopping four goals in the second leg to clinch the tie and return the trophy to its rightful owners; Oviedo.

Play-Off Draw

A tough ask. Albacete narrowly missed out the Segunda Division B4 by just three points, so we were not to take them lightly. In the league winners play-off, only one team with a predicted finish of 1st had qualified; Racing. However, with the rest all predicted 2nd, this would be a tight affair.

In our play-off, Murcia had to be considered the favourites, although with the B team of Villarreal standing in their way, they may find it a tough ask and buckle under the pressure. San Fernando were definitely the dark horses of the tournament, having been predicted to finish a lowly 15th but instead securing a 4th place Segunda Division B4 finish and a play-off spot.

Their opponents Gimnastic definitely stood a chance though, having barely missed out on the Segunda Division B3 title. Elsewhere, Atletico B would face off against Sevilla Atletico in a Battle of the B teams clash. Barakaldo and Atletico Baleares were unlikely to cause much trouble, as they were drawn against each other. Finally, surprise qualifiers Sestao and Osasuna would go head to head.

So, to conclude, we had been given a very tough draw, but if we could someone squeeze through, we may just stand a chance. Having not played with this side in what feels like a very, very long time, I wasn’t really sure what to expect.

Would you say that the B teams are stronger or weaker than the actual teams in the play off. And, for those more difficult matches, are you closing up early, or late.

See, I either like to try to score early and then close up real fast, or I close up from the first minute and throw a few speed merchants in the last 10 minutes. It depends I guess, on who I'm playing.

Anyway, do you have two wingers who are speed freaks who are not on your first team? Or are we going for just closing up shop against the big teams

Glad to see the story back and you made the playoffs. I didn't know the Spanish Federation Cup was a thing.

1. Depends, often the B teams throw out some of the unwanted first teamers, for instance Atletico B have people like Ruben Perez.
2. I would like to be able to do that, unfortunately my team has a knack of throwing away early leads (we always seem to take the lead in the first 10 minutes, bizarrely).
3. And unfortunately, no, this is the Spanish 3rd division so even my first choice wingers are mediocrely fast

In my league we have Porto, Sporting and Benfica's B teams, and they can be really tough. benfica normally have Eduardo Salvio in their B team which makes it tough.

Freiburg and Oviedo Announce New Link

SC Freiburg and Real Oviedo, S.A.D. have today announced a new link with each other. The Bundesliga side, who finished 12th last season, are reported to be paying Oviedo €49,435 a year for the link. The agreement gives the Germans first option to buy players from their Spanish counterparts, currently battling for promotion to the Segunda Division, which means that once a bid for a player is accepted by Oviedo, a bid of the same value from Freiburg must be accepted. It is then up to the player to decide which team to join.


The link was first announced on Freiburg’s Official Website, with a similar statement appearing on Oviedo’s soon after:

”SC Freiburg and Real Oviedo, S.A.D. are today proud to announce a new affliation between the two sides, meaning Freiburg becomes the parent club of Oviedo. Freiburg will now be able to send players on loan to Oviedo at no cost to Oviedo, who we would like to make clear have no obligation to play the loanees. Freiburg now also have first option to buy players from Oviedo. We hope this is merely the beginning of a long, successful partnership between the two clubs.”

Oviedo manager Robert McLaren caught up with Marca to give his thoughts on the announcement,

”I’m delighted! They get to send their youngsters on loan to us to get game time, which will cost us nothing, and they will be paying us a small sum of money each year, which will help the club greatly. It’s also great for them; it means their kids can get some proper experience, and they are also able to match any bids we accept for a player if they too are interested – it’s a win-win situation.”

McLaren also took the time to announce the permanent transfer of Josep Señé from Real Madrid, after the player spent the entirety of last season on loan at Los Carbayones.

”It’s a massive boost for the club; Josep was integral to our promotion push in the second half of the season,” says McLaren, ”I’m delighted we were able to sign him on a more permanent basis.”


”He is a fantastic player with a whole bag full of skills, who certainly has an eye for goal. He didn’t feature too much in the first half of the season, but after we switched formation he was a recurring factor in the team. When I saw he would be available for free in the summer, I knew we had to snap him up. I’m pleased his contract has been negotiated and look forward to working with him for another season.”
