It is news that all Spurs fans have been hoping to hear. Erik Lamela is now a Tottenham Hotspur player.
The saga has been going on all winter, and has had more ups and downs than a bipolars emotions, and is something that many Spurs fans will be happy to hear.
Lamela started out his career at Argentinian side River Plate in 2010, where he went on to make 36 appearances, scoring 4 goals.
He then transferred to Italian side AS Roma, for a fee of €12 million, plus €2 million in bonuses. He has made a total of 42 appearances for Roma, scoring 9 goals - 5 of which came in 13 appearances in his last season for the club.
The Argentinian Striker was subject to a bid in the beginning of January, at around £17,000,000, which was rejected straight away from Roma officials. It is then believed that Tottenham went back and tabled an offer of around £20,000,000 which was again, rejected.
AVB has been a keen admirer of the winger, and had sent several scouts, including chief scout Bryan Robson and Director of Football, Franco Baldini to check him out. Of course, Baldini already knew everything to know about the little wonder-kid, having previously worked at the club as a Technical Director, before leaving for Spurs earlier this summer.
It is believed that Tottenham's public pursuit made Lamela re-think his options, and undoubtedly had his head turned by the North London club.
Lamela had handed in a transfer request, on around the 17th of January - it was subsequently rejected.
Lamela's agent also didn't help the case. It is believed that he had been speaking to the press, leaking out information of his client being 'unhappy', something which didn't go down well with the AS Roma officials.
After long-winded and protracted talks, neither Lamela or AS Roma could agree upon a solution. It is believed that albeit unhappy, Erik would have stayed until the end of the season as long as he got more playing time, something which he was not promised by Roma's manager, Rudi Garcia.
It was then, at 29 minutes past 9 that Roma received the call from Daniel Levy, where he offered the club the £19.25M price tag that they had set on him.
Erik has signed a contract until 2016, and is believed to be on a weekly wage of around £44k a week.
