Well, there are a few good twists to turn up. And after this story. I have a great idea to round off FM13!

Campbell:"I approached three different midfielders!"

Today in a press conference, Arsenal Head Coach Sol Campbell revesaled how he approached three different central midfielder and how they never signed. One join Manchester City. The second joined Manchester United and the third joined FC Porto on loan. Those three being Everton's Marouane Fellaini, Newcastle's Yohan Cabaye and Barcelona's Thiago.

The Fellaini deal was actually worth more than what City offered but due to the offer being made later than City's offer, Fellaini joined the Blues instead. He joined City for 27.5m despite a later offer from Arsenal worth 500k more!

Cabaye's deal was again a very close miss and Arsenal were in the same situation as the Fellaini deal. He joined the nineteen times champions (this is in 2012) Manchester United for a fee of 18m. Again even though Arsenals offer was around 1m more than United's.

Barcelona's future prospect Thiago was another deal that came close but much closer than the others, the deal was set to be confirmed by Arsenal gaffer Sol Campbell but FC Porto came in at the last minute to sign him up on a season long loan.

Campbell did however say: "I am upset none of these players joined because with Wilshire out injured, it isn't easy. I will try to get one of them in January but it all depends how our season pans out. If we do well, we might not need them!

Thoughts from the Sol

A very good start to the Premier League campaign, of course setting the standards off with a great win against Swansea because getting a disappointed draw at Norwich before getting a fantastic win over Manchester City. Then another draw away at West Brom before the best performance ever against Zenit (5-2) but then we suffered a demoralizing defeat to QPR. After that we got a late win against Aston Villa before getting a simple win against Fulham. A very good start in my opinion and I hope we can continue this form!
