I've been meaning to get the facepacks, but I always procrastinate.
Thanks a lot. I have to add to the squad and I would like yours and other readers' help for it.
Caulker, McEachran and Sigurdsson are all leaving after their loans have ended, and Agustien refuses to sign a new contract. The club has given me £28.41 Million to spend and £125K extra for wages. Should I go for a couple of big-name midfielders, or defenders? Or should I get cheap, potentially good players all-around?
Wow - you have done exceptionally well. European comp next season will be a fantastic challenge for you.

Personally, I never go for the "big name" players, sure they may give you merchandising revenue, but then you are tied into big transfer fees, big wages, and big egos. And then you have the big problem if your star player gets a big injury......

So, I am advocating a squad first mentality, get some 18-20 CA/PA scouts and see what they recommend.

I've taken your advice and not signed anybody for big money. Some of the signings are made taking this season into consideration, while some are for the future. I will post screenshots of all of them in a couple of minutes. Also, thank you for the suggestions you gave via chat - they certainly came in handy.
Pre-Season Signings
Yaya Sanogo
- I had decided not to sign him in the first season because every human manager in the game does so, but he was offered to me at such a price, I just couldn't resist. I won't mould the team around him though. He will be sold when I find a regen striker who is better.

Kelvin Leerdam
- A utility player, who won't feature in a first team often, but will be handy because of our team's European campaign.
http://i709.photobucket.com/albums/ww98/akashrv/2012-07-16_00028.jpg

Paulo Machado
- I have a feeling I overpaid but another couple of my potential signings were cancelled due to 'work permit' problems, so I decided to go for it.
http://i709.photobucket.com/albums/ww98/akashrv/2012-07-16_00029.jpg

Wouten Vranken
- Regen left-back who has really good potential. Will take a couple of years to reach the first-team, and will replace Neil Taylor.
http://i709.photobucket.com/albums/ww98/akashrv/2012-07-16_00030.jpg

Gary Gardener
- Kiwi told me there are better options, but I had already pulled the trigger on this one.
http://i709.photobucket.com/albums/ww98/akashrv/2012-07-16_00031.jpg

Valentin Eysseric
- A youngster I haven't heard a lot about, but looks promising.
http://i709.photobucket.com/albums/ww98/akashrv/2012-07-16_00032.jpg

Shane Duffy
- Tired of all the midfielders? Here's a defender to replace Steven Caulker, whose loan period got over at the end of the season.
http://i709.photobucket.com/albums/ww98/akashrv/2012-07-16_00033.jpg

Roderick Miranda
- Another defender for the future.

Anyone else I might need to sign? I have a lot of leftover transfer fees and I have yet to sell any players, so if you have any suggestions, feel free to mention them.
You are welcome Akash, the only other midfielder I'd now try for would be Man U project, Mats Dæhli and that would be based on the bargain price of probably around 110K - as he should be transfer listed?

Also with Euro competition in mind, who are your keepers? Michel Vorm should be far and away the best you have at present, but I'd definitely look at getting shot of some of the others and looking at what you can buy. I've had luck with scouting the re-gens, particularly the Dutch and Portuguese.

In my Osusana save, I am spoilt, the best technical I have are Portuguese and a Chinese national, but my Irish stopper is keeping them both off the park.

You really like to rub salt in my wounds, don't you? >:)
Actually, Chelsea wonderkid Thibaut Courtois was unhappy with his squad position and was looking to leave. (Ability: ****1/2 star, Potential: *****). Declared interest, offered £6 Million and was a certain signing; until Malaga offered £10.5 Million and I couldn't match that.
Right now, I am scouting for some regens and found one from Russia, waiting for his work permit to get approved.
Here's my squad so far:

Do you really think the signing of Mats Dæhli is important?

What are my problem areas, readers? I want you to help.

I'm a fan of Mats Dæhli. It'll depend on your coaches but he'll train up wonderfully well. It'll also give you a mid of cover from a squad perspective where he can cover the roles across the midfield.

I was able to pick him up in my second season for $110K, wages 1.3K, so I saw that as a bargain.

Re your keeper problem, I was able to pick up Alphonse Areola (French 19 yo, Paris Saint Germain) after both Smithies and Buckland didn't want to discuss). Be prepared to pay though, 8M and about 25K wages. Ouch!
I have taken care of the Goalkeeping problem for a short-term.
Introducing Sebastian Peratta
This guy is great as a second-choice keeper, and I'm hoping he is good enough to not complain about lack of matches.

I've got the save back!

Late September and October Update

League Cup 3rd Round

26 September 2012
Swansea 1-0 Blackpool
Luke Moore 39'
- Played my reserves and youth team in this match, because this was played a mere 3 days after our match against West Ham. I'm glad they came through with a victory as the board was expecting our team to reach the fourth round of the cup, which we have done now. We will be playing West Brom in the Fourth Round

Premier League

29 September 2012
Swansea 3-0 Stoke
Bashkim Kadrii 22', 56'
Scott Sinclair 86'
- This was a brilliant display, bringing us into the top half of the league table. Kadrii has hit a good patch of form and everyone at the club is happy about it.

Luka Modric took the Player of the Month, while Rasmus Falk and Bashkim Kadrii took first and second in the Young Player category.

Euro Cup Group A

4 October 2012
Dinamo 1-4 Swansea
Bashkim Kadrii 24', 42', 48'
Luis Ovalle 38'
Angel Rangel 15' - 4 weeks (broken ribs)
Rasums Falk 45+1' - 4 days (dead leg)
- We could've done without the injuries, but what a performance! Going to Croatia and picking up a victory so comfortably made the fans jubilant. The toughest test is next, against Zenit.

Premier League

7 October 2012
Blackpool 0-2 Swansea
Bashkim Kadrii 77'
Danny Graham 90'
- We might've left it late, but I will take it. If Blackpool would've won, they would've gone above us in the standings, so it felt good to get the win. Kadrii is slowly but surely becoming a crowd favourite.

20 October 2012
Swansea 0-1 Sunderland
- I tried out a new tactic in this match, but we still dominated. The biggest mistake was playing Kadrii at a midfielder rather than his more influential striking role. We will need to bounce back with Zenit next.

Euro Cup Group A

25 October 2012
Zenit 2-1 Swansea
Bashkim Kadrii 9'
- We were off to a flyer, but Zenit quickly equalized. Everyone thought we were headed for a draw, before Alexander Bukharov got the winner in the 92nd minute. We'll get you back when you come to the Liberty, Zenit!

Premier League

28 October 2012
Swansea 2-0 Bolton
Craig Dawson 15'
Ashley Williams 40'
- When our strikers failed to score, Dawson and Williams got us goals from two corners. A really solid defensive performance, allowing Bolton only one shot attempt.

League Cup 4th Round

31 October 2012
Swansea 2-1 West Brom
Team - Peratta; Vranken, Miranda, Duffy, Alfei; Eysseric, Lucas, Richards, Donnelly; Ocampos, Graham.
As you can see, a lot of the reserves and youth players were given their chance and we got off to a brilliant start with defender, Roderick Miranda in the 38th minute. Mateb pulled it back very early in the second half, in the 46th minute. The score remained that way at the end of 90 minutes, and in the very first minute of extra time, Valentin Eysseric from the left-wing - taking home the man of the match.

Player of the Month
1st - Javier Hernandez (Manchester United),
2nd - Grant Holt (Norwich City),
3rd - Wayne Rooney (Manchester United).

Young Player of the Month
1st - Jordan Mutch (Birmingham City),
2nd - David De Gea (Manchester United),
3rd - Matt Phillips (Blackpool)

Manager of the Month
- Roberto Mancini (Manchester City).

P.S.: I really don't have the time to update a story and study for my tests, but found this save after a long time, and would love for you to be part of my effort to do well with Swansea.
Give a try to my boy Wallyson, you saw he does the trick for me :D
