2013-04-09 19:40#91109 joethequin : Nice signing in Carew, and great pre-season results

Cheers. I was struggling to find anyone to sign with my massive 200k transfer budget but Carew was perfect on a free transfer. :)
Carew was a player I almost signed for my Huddersfield Town squad; can't honestly tell you why I didn't. I am sure he will help you do well. I hope you can build on your very positive preseason. Keep it up.

August: A Steady Start

http://i46.tinypic.com/20jk07n.jpg

I'm quite happy with the way the season started. Two impressive wins but a disappointing defeat to Brighton where in truth we could have been beaten by a lot more. This month also so us enter and get knocked out of the Carling Cup - which I can say I'm not that bothered about. The league is my one and only focus at the moment. Hopefully next month I can build on this steady start and move into the play-offs.

August: Transfer Round Up

http://i48.tinypic.com/b3lmdj.jpg

It was a very quite summer of transfers for Burnley, with John Carew the only signing on a free transfer. I would have loved to have signed more players but with next to no transfer budget that was impossible. It was even difficult to find anyone of any real quality in the loan market as the monthly fee's being asked where considerably too much.

On the out going side of things there is also nothing to report, with a few of the clubs younger players going out on loan across the country.

September: A Rapid Decline

http://i49.tinypic.com/3byno.jpg

What a horrible month - it could not have gone much worse. In five games we only scored 2 goals and picked up 5 points, I was expecting much, much more. John Carew and Charlie Austin have not been performing infront of goal and I had great expectations for them both, if things carry on I will have to make drastic changes. Getting beat off Hull at home 1-3 after taking the lead was sickening and I made the players aware of my dissapointment. Next month will be better.

October: The Climb

http://i48.tinypic.com/mskwux.jpg

This month got better as it went on, thankfully. I was expecting the worst after a defeat and two draws but we finally picked up two wins to finish off October in style. I was very critical of Charlie Austin and John Carew last month but they've turned things around and started to score the goals that I expect of them. Our 5-0 thrashing of Palace was football perfection and I don't exaggerate when I say we could have easily had 10 goals.

November: Mixed Fortunes

All in all we can be quite happy with this month - we won more than we lost which is always a positive! My team seems to have settled somewhat by now and I can confidently name my strongest starting eleven, which I’ve been struggling to do all season. Another bonus is I came out of this month injury free, which is vital heading into December where we have to play 7 games! The highlight of the month definitely has to be the win over local-rivals Blackburn, it was a close game but a deserved victory in the end.

December: Freefall

I honestly thought I was making progress. The last two months have been decent enough and we’ve been in toughing distance of the playoffs but after this shocking month we are getting dragged into the relegation dogfight. The worrying thing for me is that our once solid defence has let in 16 goals, it’s simply not good enough. Even though I’ve got no budget I’m going to seriously have to have a look if I can bring anyone in to help the squad in the January transfer window, there must be someone out there who can help the club get out of this rot.

That Nottingham Forrest match would've been so hard to take! Let's hope 2013 is your year and produce a Reading-esque thing!
Ouch that is quite a tough set of results to take. I am sure you will change the club's fortunes though. Good luck.

Fingers crossed but for some reason I can't see it. :(

Hopefully..really annoying me as I've already done a save with Burnley before and I stormed the league but I'm finding this save difficult.

BURNLEY TRIO INJURED

http://www.clitheroeadvertiser.co.uk/webimage/1.5146626.1353338407!image/4116430400.jpg_gen/derivatives/landscape_595/4116430400.jpg

Burnley have suffered a triple injury blow as 3 out of their 4 first choice defenders picked up serious injuries in the 3-0 defeat to Charlton Athletic.

The Clarets captain Jason Shackell was the first to go when he stumbled awkwardly after a routine clearance. What looked like a simple fall actually caused the defender to break his wrist and it’s thought he will be out for at least 7 weeks.

It got even worse for Burnley not long after when Ben Mee pulled up when darting up the leftwing. The stretcher was brought on and Mee will be out for 3 months with a torn hamstring.

In the second half things went from bad to worse for Burnley when Charlton forward Nile Ranger stamped dangerously on Kieran Tripper. Although nothing was broke the young full back will be out for 2 weeks with a badly bruised foot.

Speaking after the game Burnley boss Graham Alexander couldn’t believe his luck:

“I’m absolutely gutted. To have three of our starting back four pick up long-term injuries in the same game is devastating. Our squad is already paper-thin but it’s now up to the young lads who have been sat on the bench all season to show they are worthy of playing for the club.”

When asked if he would have to strengthen in the January transfer window Alexander seemed optimistic:

“I will do my very best to bring in a few new fresh faces. We have next to no money available for transfers so I will see who is available in the loan market – though I will not be making any desperate signings just because of our mini injury crisis.”
