Yeah, just wish I'd included a future fee in the deal :/
Great start mate. I think that you will bring success throughout Sheffield. I have a sense that this will be one of the best story ever. Good luck Blue!
Nice signing, but you might also want to get someone more experienced at the Championship level? Just a suggestion :P

Wednesday Sign Alonso

Sheffield Wednesday have completed the signing of former Real Sociedad and CD Tenerife midfielder Mikel Alonso, as they look to add experience to their central midfield. This is Chris Waddle's second signing in the Owls managerial position, and both have been well-recieved by the Wednesdayites.

32-year-old Alonso has spent most of his career in Spanish football, including nine years at Neal Sociedad, and two with Tenerife. He has also spent two spells in English football, on loan at Bolton Wanderers in 2007-08, and also with Charlton Athletic last season, however he didn't make an appearance for the Addicks as they won promotion to the Championship alongside Wednesday. The fact that he didn't make an appearance for a promotion-chasing side in the division below could worry some fans, because he may not be good enough to make the grade at Hillsborough.

Pundits, however, expect Alonso to be first choice alongside Rhys McCabe in Wednesday's central midfield this season, helping the Scotsman with his experience, and also adding ability to the Owls midfield, because that was one of the priorities Waddle had when he joined the Sheffield club.

Mikel Alonso has signed a 2 year, £4.3k p/w deal at Hillsborough, and will wear the number 23 shirt for the Owls in the 2012-13 season.
SWEEEEET.
Alonson should be able to come in and add a bit of experience to your team. Great signing.

The Owls Sign Olijve

Sheffield Wednesday have signed Dutch midfielder Frank Olijve from Zwolle for £90k. The 23-year-old becomes Waddle's third midfield signing in a matter of days, having already loan Thomas Carroll from Spurs, and signed Mikel Alonso on a free transfer.

Olijve was transfer-listed at Zwolle, which was a surprise to many of the fans of the Dutch club, as he has been an important figure for Zwolle in the last couple of seasons. The reason he was listed is unclear to most, but there is obviously some reasoning behind it. He is well-known in Holland, having played for Ajax at youth level, and also Groningen before he joined Zwolle in 2010. After he joined Zwolle, he made 51 appearances in the Juliper League, before making the move to England to Wednesday this summer.

The 23-year-old is a completely unknown quantity in England. Many fans are unsure what to make of this latest signing, but are hopeful that he can contribute to a successful season for the Owls. Olijve is an attacking midfielder, so is expected to take the place of Wednesday's Slovenian midfielder Nejc Pecnik as the first-choice central attacking midfielder.

Frank Olijve has signed a 4-year deal on £1,700 per week. He will wear the number 22 shirt, and is expected to make his Owls debut in their Capital One Cup match away to Fleetwood.

I know, I think he'll be key this year!
I must admit I've never heard of him, but from what you say,he seems quite good!

I hadn't either, but my AMC position wasn't very strong.

Pre-Season Review

Overall, I think it was a very good pre-season. We made good transfers, and had some fantastic results too. I was slightly concerned after drawing with Glentoran, but we improved, and finished off pre-season with a win over Sevilla, which is a fantastic accomplishment. Based on our good pre-season, I can see us having a good competitive season too, maybe even challenging for a play-off spot. We need to start well though, with a win over Fleetwood at the Highbury Stadium in the Capital One Cup.
