Waddle: "We Will Survive"
Chris Waddle has boldly stated his intention to his Sheffield Wednesday players, by telling them that he fully expects them to survive relegation in the Championship this season, and maybe even push for a play-off place.
Speaking in a press conference ahead of his first competitive match as Wednesday manager, Waddle was asked how he thought his team would do in the second tier, and whether they would could cope with the different challenges facing them this year. He replied, "I feel this season could be tough if we have problems with injuries, or have little consistency, but I think we will survive anyway, and still be here next season. We've been made favourites to be in a relegation battle, but with the players I've signed, and based on the pre-season results, I think we'll be just fine. The game against Fleetwood will be me a chance to see how well this tactic works, and a chance to progress to the next round."
Waddle's side have been tipped to be in a battle against relegation from the Championship, but many feel that with a new manager at the helm, and with the new-look squad the Owls have, that they will be able to pull out of the battle.
