Manchester City midfielder James Milner has agreed a move to Stoke City for a fee of just £1.4m. He will be able to meet up with his new team mates in January. Milner, 28, has become displeased with the way Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has been treating him. Milner has made just 22 appearances for the club over a 3 year period.
His lack of game time has now stopped him from making the England squads with new England manager Brendan Rodgers not picking players based on name or the clubs that they play for. Milner has previously been capped by the England senior team on 32 occasions but his biggest international feat to date is being England's most capped U21 player earning a whopping 46 caps.
Milner depsite wanting to leave the Manchester club wanted to stay local to the area for his kids and family. Stoke being close to the area and their great upturn in form since the arrival of Andy Tillson made them the best option for him. We have seen a similar transfer to this before in Michael Carrick. Carrick has since become an integral part of the Stoke team, can Miner become the same?
Milner can play in various roles being able to play in the center, right and left of the midfield. Milner's versatility will prove to be a much needed addition. He's yet to play in the Champions League so should Stoke progress to the next round he could be a vital player in the knock-out phase.
