Hereford’s story is much aligned with the main antagonist from Stranger Things, Vecna. Rising from the ashes when everyone thought they were dead and buried.

The Bulls find themselves in the National League North following on from title winning promotions in the Midland Football League, Southern Football League South & West, and the Southern Premier League. However, following this rise through the leagues, the local rags do not fancy Hereford’s chances in the NL North, with the media predicting Hereford would do well to avoid a relegation battle.



Vecna is a positive tactical approach lining up in an unconventional 442 diamond, with advanced WBs on either flank providing width. Inside of the WBs you will find two CDs on def duty ahead of a SK on defence also and just and just ahead of the CB pairing you will find a deep sitting DLP on defence also.



In the two central roles you will find a CM on attack, and he is married to a B2B support, one offering guile, creative flair and attacking prowess and the other offering a more engine room type of battler, putting a foot in, breaking play down, legs up and down the pitch.



The number 10 role see’s an AM on support duty, providing precise passing, opening up the play, late runs into the box and generally being a nuisance.



Leading the line is two AF on attack duty, however both roles may appear similar of nature, they are both set up with different individual instructions, offering a varied approach to attacking and contributing to a large number of goals.

The idea behind the tactic is to ensure there are plenty of ‘outs’ by creating triangles all over the park, as illustrated with our artists impression.



As mentioned in the opening, Vecna is set up as ‘positive’, but I am sure it could go the next step to ‘attacking’ and you may see better results.
