Overview
The aim of this tactic is to be defensively robust, using man-marking along with higher line and engagement. This prevents the opposition players time and space on the ball and limits their passing options.Once the ball has been turned over the team is imaginative with the ball, the team staggers the lines looking forward with a higher tempo using line breaking passes. Once the ball is in the final third the team will remain patient moving the ball quickly working an opening. The attacking players also have the freedom to make things happen using their individual talent and flair. The front four all rotate and roam from their positions with the aim of pulling the opponents defenders out of of position, leaving gaps for another player to attack the space. The number 10 has a free role, they will drop deeper to collect the ball or drift across the pitch looking for space to allow them to get time on the ball to make things happen.
