Atalanta’s Chaos Press – The Gasperini Way

I’ve tried to recreate one of the most successful and exciting tactics of recent years. Atalanta have been one of the toughest teams to face in Europe : lately dynamic, aggressive, and fearless.

Let’s not forget their incredible 3–0 win in the Europa League final against Bayer Leverkusen, which crowned them as UEFA Europa League champions

Not too many instructions are needed. The match mentality is set to Balanced, but the team still plays with an attacking mindset, even while staying compact and ready to hit on the counter.

As for the tactics:

The central defender should be the one most skilled in tackling. The two wide centre-backs don’t need to be outstanding defensively, but they must have good passing ability and pace.

The wing-backs should be solid in marking, passing, and tackling, and ideally have decent finishing as well.

For the midfielders, one sits deep, he needs to be more defensive, good at tackling and marking while the other pushes forward and should have decent finishing.

For the attacking mids, one makes runs behind the defence ,he needs pace and good finishing while the other stays deeper, closer to the midfield.

The striker should play with his back to goal and should be physically strong.
