My Own Philosophy

Hi there, this is my first tactic on here.

I played FM20 mostly by just taking tactics from FM Scout because my own creations didn't work as I wanted too.

This year, I committed myself to making my own tactics, implementing an entire philosophy from Youth to first team.

I wanted to play technical positional football, just as I'm trying to teach the kids in the team I coach in real life. I used the role and tactics guide on this website to check all the role capabilities and chose the ones I'm trying to teach in real life.

I had a rough start at Feyenoord since they're more used to gegenpress or even catenaccio/counter football in real life under Dick Advocaat. Also I changed the strikers role after three games into the season because he barely got on the ball.



I tried to keep it simple, on the ball we play shorter passes in a tempo based on the mentality. This results in good passing stats, and still fast enough to create decent chances. Working the ball into the box and overlap results in numerical superiority on the flanks, which is something I believe all teams should be aiming for.

I use counterpress to get the ball back as soon as possible after losing it, and left the counter/regroup option open. This is because part of my club philosophy is signing players with decent decision making, because of which I trust them to make a choice based on the game to counter or not to counter.

Out of possession I use a higher defensive line and a higher line of engagement, strengthened by more urgent pressing. I find this to be the best out of possession options, because your team presses 1 on 1, meaning you'll be defensively stable.

Below are the results, I became Eredivisie champions (projected 5th) and got to the quarter finals of the Europa League.
