Warnock’s preferred system is a 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3 formation built on solid defense and quick transitions into attack.



He implemented his positionally fluid style of play combined with a high press and build possession from the back. His players have adapted to positional rotation, high pressing and attacking down the flanks.

Warnock style is built on pressing aggression (every man behind the ball to limit the amount of space), crosses into the penalty area and set pieces.

However Warnock is not typically associated with creativity or more expressive freedom, he have always benefited from creative players operating behind the forward.
