Using a flat 442 system that includes not only a Trequartista, but a Wide Playmaker, this system can average over 3.5 goals per game. It even won League Two.
Today I'm sharing a flat 442 initially created by my best mate Tom Coast, and then tweaked and adapted by me to make it better defensively. We got multiple league winners across Europe all the way down to League Two. What makes this special is it gets the best out of a Wide Playmaker and a Trequartista, in the same system. One Treq scored 49 goals and a 34-year-old playmaker finished with 27 assists. It can be leaky with some teams, but with top clubs able to average over 3.5 goals per game, it's beautiful to watch.
The FM22 Tactic
Check out the video above for all the instructions, the mentality around the tactic and how it works.
Results
104 goals and Champions with Bristol Rovers.
114 goals from Bournemouth.
Robert Lewandowski scored 49 goals as the Treq.
Training
No training was used before these tests, but as a rule with all my tactics - train the position for the players you want to play in each role.
Set Pieces
They are included in the tactic.
Tips
You want a right-footed player to play as the WP - he needs passing, vision, decisions. Speed not as important.
You can play the AF/Treq combo the other way round if preferred.
If you are conceding too many goals, turn off Counter-Press.
