FM23 YOUTH RATING Revised

as every year , I release this DATABASE update to make the balance of skills of game similar to real life. I have been working on this since years and listening to suggestions and will be looking forward to any suggestions.

This Database rely on Average FIFA ranking as main structure to rank team because is simply the only scale that is close to reality.

Why Average and not current ranking? well because countries go up and down in ranking alot .. I remember times when Romania, Poland, Bulgaria or Hungary had a strong teams that reached latest stages of World cups and Euros, everything moves in a circle. Alegria had strong team during 80s.. then was average and are back again. This is why Average was a no brainer option.

Only problem with this Ranking is FIFA points seem not right from continent to another, with South American teams punished for having too many strong teams, while Oceania and Asia just seem to be way over the skills as they had many easier matches. This is why USA have very strong ranking for example than teams like Belgium or Croatia for example.

To overcome that, we had to find a system to restore balance and include new variable to readjust that balance over the continent. The only objective option was to rely on matches between teams of each continent and compare ranking to see which ranking for example a team in Asia will have more draws or equal results and this had generated a variable that had been added to each ranking to correct the scale.

EX: Qatar X Luxembourg 1-1 , fifa ranking difference is 81x131 which seem not right, in original FM youth rating is even worst with Luxembourg was given 35 while Qatar was given 105 !! In reality they should be too close to each others !! so thanks to this patch's calibration now the youth rating is 100 for Qatar and 93 for Luxembourg. which make previous results between both nations 1-1 and 1-0 possible. The variable is not based on one matches.. but several matches between many teams and we took at the end simply the average.

Sure my data is not perfect and will never be, but I believe is the only and more closer to reality and in anyway way better than what SI had done at least in terms of balancing teams.

All teams were organised into a scale from 148 to 20. I think SI is just too generous with Brazil 163 rating which will flood game with wonderkids so I set them up to 148 as extreme end of the scale .. The aim of patch is to create realistic generation of wonderkids spread around world just like in real life and make game more challenging by reducing chances of super Messis flooding the game .



Am looking for feedback here and whether tempted to increase scale from Top 9 teams compared to rest.
