Canada defeat nine man Mexico

DALLAS,TX- in the opening match for Canada the team was considered the underdogs with many experts picking a 3-0 loss to Mexico. In a wild match that could compared to the 2013 World Baseball Classic between the two nations, tempers flared and fouls and cards were handed out like candy on Halloween.

Early on Mexico shoot themselves in the foot. During the 8th minute midfielder Marco Fabian scored an own goal. 8 Minutes later Mexico would end up getting a goal disallowed, at this point the Mexican side were growing impatient. Hector Herrera would get a yellowcard after throwing the ball at GK Milan Borjan's face. You could tell this was about to go out of hand.

"At the half I told the boys not to fall for their bs tactics and don't start a fight, this is not hockey so fighting is sadly frowned upon soccer."- Mike Korrigan

After halftime Captain Julian De Guzman would end up scoring from close range in the 57th minute. Things would end up going for bad to a disaster for Mexican Centre Back Hector Moreno would get his second yellow and bet sent to the showers early with 10 minutes to go. During stoppage time Mexican Attacker Angel Rena would have to get carted off on a stretcher, leaving Mexico with 10 men on the field as all substitutions were used.

Canada will play Guatemala this upcoming Friday in Boston.

Despite a heavy 3-1 loss against Honduras Canada will be advancing with 6 out of the 9 points. Their match against Guatemala got them through to the next round. The players are quite upset about the loss but are ready to advance past the quarter finals.

Canada will be playing Jamaica on June 20th

The dream continues as Canada advance to the semi finals

TAMPA- Canada advance to the semifinals of the Gold Cup and will play Trinidad on June 24th in Houston. They beat Jamaica by a score of 1-0 in extra time, thanks Josh Simpson and his goal in the 99th minute.

Else where the US beat Haiti 5-0 and Mexico beat Costa Rica 3-1. The two rivals will face eachother in the other semi final.

You should pass to the final but then either opponents will be a difficult match (even if you already defeated Mexico 3-0 :P).

HOUSTON,TX- It was a humid evening over at Relliant Stadium and two teams that were not expected to go past the group stage faced off. Canada won won Group B and Trinidad who came in second in Group C. This was the match everyone was waiting for since the US and Mexico kicked off.

Canada would become the dominant team in the match against T&T with a 3-0 win. Goals were scored by W. Johnson, I. Humie and C. Hudson. The 20015 final will be Canada first since 2000. Earlier on Mexico beat the Yanks 2-1. This will be their first trip to the final since 2011 when they won.

The match is scheduled for an 8:00 PM start at Tad Gormley Stadium in New Orleans

NEW ORLEANS- If you were looking for a rematch as intense as the first meeting of the Gold Cup the final was the one you were looking to. Canada were once again pegged as the underdogs since many thought the first match earlier this month was a fluke. Boy were the critics wrong.

Like the previous match things were extremely heated. Once again Mexico lead the match in yellowcards with six. "Mexico are an extremely dirty team and find your weakness by trying to not to concentrate, they need to learn to calm the hell down before thinking about winning since it obviously caused them to get beat the last time we played." said Mike Korrigan during the pre match press conference.

The score would be 1-1 at the end of regular time. Josh Simpson and Javier Hernandez were the two goalscorers for their respective sides. Then extra time would end up a stalemate. Penalties made this final one of the best since 2000. Canada would end up winning with goals from; Jackson, Simpson, Peters and Jakovic. Many who turned in were probably not soccer fans, maybe this match changed their opinions on the sport. As soon as Dejan Jakovic scored the winner, you could feel the patriotism rise from all corners of Canada.



Next up for Canada are a few friendlies and then the 2018 World Cup qualification.

Ottawa- Two of the friendlies scheduled for later this year have been canceled due to the draw for the Second Phase. Canada will be represented in Group 3 and will be facing; Bahamas, Cayman Islands and Haiti. Matches will begin on September 4th and all home matches will be played at BMO Field.

Canada have moved up 98 places to 38th position in the latest world rankings list, more places than any other nation. Argentina have moved up one spot to become the top team in the world.
