Tottenham Hotspur

http://s1314.photobucket.com/user/silasthebest/media/728_zps9f3b03a9.png.html

I have decided to do a story on Tottenham. Even though I support Liverpool, I have always been a little bit of a Spurs fan. I will be sticking to this story until FM14 comes out then I will probably do a Spurs story on that. The reason I choose to do a story on Spurs is because they have a good team, even without Bale, and I think I can probably win the league with them in the first season, if not the second.

Who Will I Be?

http://s1314.photobucket.com/user/silasthebest/media/avb_1529598a_zps463ea6f2.jpg.html
I am going to be currant Tottenham manager André Villas-Boas otherwise known as AVB. He didn't do to bad last season, finishing 5th. He is an excellent young manager he has also managed Chelsea. The 35 year old, Portuguese manager has managed a couple of big named teams including Chelsea and Porto.
It shouldn't be a problem, but have you taken out AVB from the database? Imagine he takes over as some other team - it'll be AVB Vs AVB :P

The Squad

http://s1314.photobucket.com/user/silasthebest/media/squad_zpsead969d4.png.html

Tottenham have a pretty strong squad even though they lost the likes of Gareth Bale in the summer. They have brought in a whopping 7 first team players this summer including Paulinho and Roberto Soldado. Spurs have also got players like Benoit Assou-Ekotto and Jake Livermore out on season long loans.

Key Players

Jan Vertonghen

http://s1314.photobucket.com/user/silasthebest/media/103704_zpsa4df0afd.jpg.html

The 26 year old Belgium defender proved his ability last season, where he was crucial to Spurs league campaign. This season I am counting on him to anchor the defense down and make some crucial tackles, as well as scoring some goals from corners.

Paulinho

http://s1314.photobucket.com/user/silasthebest/media/Paulinho_zpsc4aae95e.jpg.html

The big Brazilian midfielder has recently been transferred to Spurs from Brazilian side Corinthians, for a whopping 17.5 million. The 24 year old has been capped 25 times for the Brazilian national side, scoring 5 goals. He will be the main player in my team, setting up goals and helping out with the defense.

Roberto Soldado

http://s1314.photobucket.com/user/silasthebest/media/Untitled_zps02704242.png.html

The Spanish striker will be essential to my team this season as he will be along up front. He has recently joined the club from Liga BBVA side Valencia for a fee of 26 million, which was thought to be his release clause. He is a proven goal scorer, having scored 59 goals in 101 appearances for Valencia. The Spanish international has been capped 12 times for the national side, scoring 7 goals.

The Squad Building Begins

Tottenham Hotspur's squad rebuild is in full flow now as manager André Villa-Boas has completed the signing of 3 players.

http://s1314.photobucket.com/user/silasthebest/media/Fabio-da-Silva-Manchester-United-Profile_2655214_zps4b6716fc.jpg.html

The first of the three signings was 23 year old Fabio. He joined from Manchester United for a fee of 8.5 million. He joins fellow Brazilians Sandro, Paulinho and Gomes at the club. It's thought that Villas-Boas was looking to improve the left back position as Benoit Assou-Ekotto has left the club on a season long loan. The Brazilian international has been capped twice by the Brazilian national side.

http://s1314.photobucket.com/user/silasthebest/media/Andre-Ayew_large_zps850b520a.jpg.html

Villas-Boas' second signing was left midfielder André Ayew. It is thought that he was mainly signed to replace the gap left by Gareth Bale. He was signed from French side Olympique de Marseille, for a fee of 15.75 million, which is thought to of been his release clause. Ayew has been capped 45 times for the Ghana national side, scoring 4 goals.

http://s1314.photobucket.com/user/silasthebest/media/AbelHernandezCittadiPalermoOfficialHeadshotsWsQnwm-X2E9l_zpsb9587aa1.jpg.html

The third signing was Uruguayan striker Abel Hernández, who was signed from Italian side Palermo. He was signed for a fee thought to be somewhere around 7.5 million. The 21 year old is thought to be signed as a backup striker. The young striker has been capped 10 times for the Uruguayan national side, scoring 7 goals.

Pre-Season Over And Done

http://s1314.photobucket.com/user/silasthebest/media/preseason_zps8fa48949.png.html

We've has a mixed bag of results really this pre-season, with 4 wins, 1 draw and 2 losses. The pick of the games coming against the reserve team with the senior team winning 5-1. Through the whole of the pre-season the best goal came from Nacer Chadli in the 3-1 win against San José. He got passed the ball, looked up and shot from 40 yards, lukely it took a slight deflection sending the goalkeeper the wrong way. I feel the team are ready for the tough challenge against Manchester United on the first day of the season.

We have also been drawn to play Anji Makhachkala in the Europa League playoff round. The first leg will be played on the 22nd August and the second leg will be played on the 29th August.

An excellent month for me and the team. I'm so pleased that we beat Chelsea and Manchester United, let along scoring 4 against Chelsea. The new signing look to be setting in well. Hopefully next month we won't have as many injuries because we have Dembélé, Vertonghan, Eriksen and Sandro all out.
Good luck with my Spurs <3

Tottenham Look To The Future

http://s1314.photobucket.com/user/silasthebest/media/tassi-pic_zps0326f0e7.jpg.html

Tottenham have today completed the signing of 18 year old Lorenzo Tassi. The Italian was co-owned by Inter and Brescia, it is thought that Villas-Boas offered 1.5 million to both teams, making his transfer fee 3 million. The 18 year old has a 1 star current ability and a 4 star potential ability. Dubbed the new Pirlo, this young player is showing bags of potential. Inter agreed a co-ownership deal with Brescia in the 2011-12 season, meaning he would play for Inter's youth team. After the signing had been made Villas-Boas had this to say "Lorenzo is a quality young player, all he needs is a couple of seasons out on loan then he will be a first team regular".

Transfer Roundup and Europa League Group

The transfer window has closed today. We've brought in 4 players, sold 1 and let 9 players leave on loan, including Gomes to Liverpool. This is how the overview looks:

http://s1314.photobucket.com/user/silasthebest/media/transfers2012_zps5f7b901a.png.html

We've also had the the group draw for the Europa League. We have been drawn in a group with Dnipro, Steaua and St. Gallen. It's a pretty easy group with Dnipro only posing the real sort of threat.

Manager Notes

A decent month with 4 wins and 2 losses. Hopefully we can keep this good form for the rest of the season, if so then we are in with a shout of winning the league. I'm really pleased how Kaboul is playing, he playing like a world class defender.
Good signings and decent results (including the Newcastle one ;))

Player Conference

F = Fabio
R = Reporter

R - Hello Fabio, I'm going to ask you some questions about life at your new club if that is alright. First question, how are you settling in at your new club?

F - I'm actually settling in better than I thought, everyone has made me feel so welcome. It helps having fellow Brazilians Paulinho and Sandro in the side.

R - What made you choose to join Spurs when there were bids from other teams including Dortmund?

F - Tottenham are a brilliant team with fantastic fans and to be honest I have always been a bit of a spurs fan. My decision was easy.

R - What is you manager like?

F- André is a brilliant manager and a good friend, he knows how to manage the team well. I don't think there is anyone in the team who doesn't like him.

R - Finally, who is your favorite teammate?

F - To be honest it has to be my fellow Brazilian teammates only because I can understand them. Players like Vlad Chiriches try to talk to me but I can't understand them.

Manager Notes

A good month, I'm really pleased with how things are going. I was very disappointed with how the players performed against Stoke, I thought I should rotate the team to give other players a chance but they didn't perform. Apart from that result the season has been pretty good for us so far, hopefully we can stay forth in the league or even get higher. Also the team will be without Soldado for about 5 months as he has suffered a torn hamstring which was picked up in training.

Manager Notes

A mixed bag of results this month, I'm particular pleased with the 3-0 win against Arsenal to start the month off, but I'm disappointed with the loss against Fulham. I felt the players should of played much better against Fulham and to be honest they deserved to win by far. I have given a chance to reserve player Jonathan Obika and he has truly delivered, he looks to be the best sticker in the squad at the moment.

Agreed To Leave

http://s1314.photobucket.com/user/silasthebest/media/adebayor_zps5d30153b.png.html

Tottenham have today announced that striker Emmanuel Adebayor will be leaving the club in January. The 29 year old striker was believed not to be in Villas-Boas' plans, hence being sold. He will join Italian giants AC Milan on the 2nd January 2013 for a fee thought to be 12 million. It is also believed that Spurs will continue to pay him 30K a week until his current contract with them runs out in 2016. Adebayor was signed at the start of the 2012-13 season after a successful loan spell the season before. He leaves after only 6 months at Spurs on a permanent deal. It is thought the reason Villa-Boas has decided to let him go is because he was unhappy with the amount of first team football he was getting.
