As with previously installments of Football Manager, FM14 has certain files that prevent you from managing certain national teams and from current real players showing up in their rosters due to licensing issues.

The national teams with the problem:
  • Germany
  • China
  • South Korea
  • Japan

How to fix

Fixing this is relatively simple, but the effects will only apply to games you have created after fixing it.

Go to:

Windows
Program Files (x86) \ Steam \ steamapps \ common \ football manager 2014 \ data \ db \ 1400 \ lnc \ all

Mac
[username] > library > Application support > Steam > steamapps >common > football manager 2014 > data > db > 1400 > lnc > all

Here you will find 3 or more files:
  • fake.lnc
  • lic_dan_swe_fra.lnc
  • nleague.lnc.
Simply delete these 3 files and create a new savegame or wait until the next time international squads are announced on your current savegame. (thanks Smexter)

You need to repeat this process with the 1430 folder as well.

Here is the complete list of what is unlocked by deleting them:
  • National teams of Germany, China, South Korea and Japan become playable.
  • Enable player pics for national teams of The Netherlands and France.
  • Fix real name of Oliver Kahn (he's with nickname Jens Mustermann).
  • Fix names for various Danish, Swedish and French competitions.
  • Restore real players for the team Albirex Niigata (Singapore).
  • Fix colors and names for various clubs, stadiums, cities in Asian countries.

Enjoy :)

Hey Stam,

Do we need to delete the rest of the files in the 'all' folder too?

And should we? What are the possible implications?
Many thanks for your advice!

Rafe!

Does this work in savegames also ?
So there's no way it can work on saved games then?
i did your instructions but i can't see Japan. What league should i load? Thanks
for anyone interested to find it under linux, this is the location

~/.steam/steam/SteamApps/common/Football Manager 2014/data/db/1400/lnc/all
Hey, I am having some trouble with this. First of all, I am on a mac. When I get onto the Application Support, there is no file called steam. I have searched for the file but there is no result. If anyone could help that would be great. Thanks.
This DOES change things in games you've already created, it just doesn't happen instantly. All you have to do is wait until the next international squads are announced and these nations will have proper squads.

Literally just happened in my save, and has happened for me in every football manager that has had this problem. I have no idea why more people don't know that it changes saved games too.
nice work cant change sameway on REAL TIME EDITOR SAVED GAME>?
