St. Pauli
2. Bundesliga - September 2013

Matches

September 14, 2013
Aalen 1 - 3 St. Pauli
The score looked dominating but we had to hold on to a 2-1 lead for a while, until Christian Buchtmann scored an amazing free kick goal to put the game out of reach. Aalen's only goal was controversial, as he looked to be offside.
Player of the Match: Christian Buchtmann (St. Pauli)

September 18, 2013
St. Pauli 3 - 1 Karlsruhe
St. Pauli continue their run as one of the most prolific attacks in the 2.Bundesliga, as after going behind early, they change to a more attacking style of play and score 3 goals to win the game. Karlsruhe's only goalscorer was injured late in the first half.
Player of the Match: Soren Gonther (St. Pauli)

September 22, 2013
St. Pauli 1 - 1 Ingolstadt
St. Pauli took the early lead when Thoelke scored in the chaos of the 6 yard box after a corner kick. They tried to hold on to the lead, but Ingolstadt was too strong, and only goalkeeper Philipp Tschauner's excellent performance kept it from being a loss.
Player of the Match: Philipp Tschauner (St. Pauli)

September 25, 2013 - DFB-Pokal Second Round
St. Pauli 0 - 2 Leverkusen
St. Pauli were undone with setpieces, Leverkusen took the lead early with a free kick, and while St. Pauli did their best to chase that goal, they were unsuccessful. To make matters worse, Leverkusen doubled their lead on a free kick.
Player of the Match: Kostas Stafylidis (Leverkusen)

September 29, 2013
Kaiserslautern 1 - 1 St. Pauli
Once again, St. Pauli took an early lead, lost it later in the match, and could not re-take it.
Player of the Match: Mohammadou Idrissou (Kaiserslautern)

Schwartz Creates Good Feeling About St. Pauli

It's almost October, and St. Pauli are 6th in the 2.Bundesliga, with 15 points from 10 matches. The captain of this ship has been Sabrina Schwartz, who hopes to have this club finish better than its 10th place finish last season. Her major additions have been enganche Victor Andres from Numancia, who has 2 goals and 4 assists in 9 appearances for St. Pauli, and has been one of the top playmakers this season for St. Pauli. Of course, incumbents Fin Bartels and Christian Buchtmann have been doing their part, as well.

Schwartz also made a good decision to get Bjarne Thoelke on loan from Wolfsburg. Not only has Thoelke been one of St. Pauli's best defenders, he's also gotten up on the other end and netted 1 goal and 3 assists. Schwartz has gotten her men to take advantage of set-pieces, with St. Pauli top of the 2.Bundesliga with 6 goals from corners, and 2 goals from direct free kicks.

After some healthy skepticism from St. Pauli supporters due to the unknown hire, they have taken to Schwartz, both due to St. Pauli's lofty league position, as well as her status as a one club woman for St. Pauli. The fans sing songs about her at the games, and some shameless fans (mostly male, but some female) have brought signs asking "Schwartz, willst du mich heiraten?"* (Will you marry me?)

It's only been a few months, of course, and it remains to be seen if St. Pauli can keep up this good feeling about themselves.

(German from Google Translate. I apologize if it's gramatically wrong. XD)
A nice start. Or previously made a banner for St. Pauli if you want to to use it!

Haha, laughed at that last update...marry me Sabrina ;)
But definite improvements in the league, keep it up :D

2. Bundesliga - October 2013

Matches

October 5, 2013
St. Pauli 3 - 1 Dynamo Dresden
Dresden looked to have the better of the first half, but Soren Gonther volleyed in a free kick in stoppage time to tie the game. In the second half, Florian Kringe scored two amazing goals, burying the ball into the net from outside the penalty box, then scoring accidentally on a cross, which would've been ruled offside if the striker got to it.
Player of the Match: Florian Kringe (St. Pauli)

October 18, 2013
St. Pauli 1 - 1 Union Berlin
Fin Bartels got St. Pauli the early lead with a great goal, which you can see above. St. Pauli tried to hold on to the slim lead, but Martin Dausch equalized in the 80th minute.
Player of the Match: Fin Bartels (St. Pauli)

October 23. 2013
FSV Frankfurt 0 - 1 St. Pauli
I have no idea how St. Pauli managed to win this one, Bernd Nehrig got sent off early due to a vicious tackle and at halftime, the manager reportedly gave a terrible team talk. Still, Victor Andres scored a header in the six-yard box to secure the three points.
Player of the Match: Benedikt Rocker (FSV Frankfurt)
Injury Update: Sebastian Maier twisted his ankle and will miss 5-6 weeks.

(Thanks to or.dabool for the banner, and Kane for pointing it out to me!)
6th is pretty good, and marry me, Sabrina! Haha! Looks like the league is tight and hard!

2. Bundesliga - November 2013

Matches

November 1, 2013
Cottbus 1 - 1 St. Pauli
Despite doing so well on the stat sheet, St. Pauli was frustrated for much of the game, and especially so when Cottbus equalized on a penalty.
Player of the Match: Alexander Bittroff (St. Pauli)
Injury Update: Christopher Buchtmann twisted his ankle and will miss 5-6 weeks.

November 10, 2013
Koln 0 - 1 St. Pauli
St. Pauli won this extremely defensive and combative game where both teams picked up many cards, including one red for each side, making it 10v10. Michael Gregoritsch scored what proved to be the winner early when his header was headed back to him, and he volleyed the ball into the goal.
Player of the Match: Michael Gregoritsch (St. Pauli)

November 23, 2013
St. Pauli 4 - 5 Paderborn
Scheiße! This game was really bi-polar for St. Pauli supporters, as they got to a 3-0 lead very early, the third goal being a comically terrible own goal that you can see above, but Paderborn continued to fight back, tying the game at 4-4 late, and getting the 90+6th minute winner, infuriating everyone at St. Pauli.
Player of the Match: Mahir Saglik (Paderborn)
Injury Update: Michael Gregoritsch strained his groin late in the match and will be out for 3-4 weeks.

November 29, 2013
Bielefeld 0 - 0 St. Pauli
St. Pauli struggled against Bielefeld's 4-1-4-1 and both teams played to a bore draw.
Player of the Match: Ioannis Gelios (Bielefeld)

2.Bundesliga Table

If it was a real German name it'd be spelled as Schwarz :P
I have a soft spot for St.Pauli so I hope you do well! Like it so far :)

Louis O.: From my research it can be spelled as either Schwarz or Schwartz. I preferred the latter spelling.

2. Bundesliga - December 2013

Matches

December 15, 2013
1860 Munchen 1 - 2 St. Pauli
It's a good thing Sebastian Maier and John Verhoek scored when they did, because St. Pauli was soon whittled to 9 men with Christian Rahn's injury and Bjarne Thoelke's second yellow. Still, they were able to hold on, even though they conceded a penalty late, it was too late for 1860 Munchen to come back and St. Pauli wins this important six-pointer!
Player of the Match: Fin Bartels (St. Pauli)
Injury Update: Christian Rahn twisted his knee and will miss 3-4 weeks.

December 20, 2013
St. Pauli 1 - 1 Sandhausen
Despite doing all they could to break down Sandhausen's defense after going down a goal early, St. Pauli could only equalize after Victor Andres's goal. The referee seemed to favor the visitors with his decisions.
Player of the Match: Bernd Nehrig (St. Pauli)

2.Bundesliga Table

St. Pauli: A Team Effort

As the 2.Bundesliga breaks for winter, it's time to take a look at St. Pauli. They're 6th in the 2.Bundesliga, and also 6th in goals with 33. Although they've struggled with defensive play, Sabrina Schwartz obviously knows how to get her players to find the net. What's even more amazing, though, is how spread apart the goalscoring is. Winger Fin Bartels and defender Soren Gonther are tied with the team lead with 5 goals apiece, making them tied for 27th in the 2.Bundesliga goalscorer charts.

I got a chance to ask Schwartz about the goalscoring, and this is what she had to say: "It doesn't really matter who scores the goals as long as someone does. It's nice that our attack is a team effort, and we're not leaning on one individual, because injuries happen in football, and I know we've had our fair share of injuries this season. I would like to see more production out of the striker position when the league resumes, but that's just a small gripe from me. We're doing very well right now, we just need to turn up the heat a little more so we can go grab that promotion."
Eb, let me have sex with Sabrina! Anyways, get your defense straight, and your attack should handle everything ;)

Some People Just Can't Handle Themselves

In a bit of not unexpected news, St. Pauli manager Sabrina Schwartz, who keeps up a presence on social media sites. has had some tweets that some might describe as creepy. What is unexpected, however, are the responses that she gives out. Look for yourself:

PaukerJ @Pauker
@SabrinaSchwartz Please have sex with me!

Sabrina Schwartz @SabrinaSchwartz
@Pauker Please, child. You couldn't handle me. I would tear you apart.

After that tweet, Pauker was reportedly found passed out at his computer desk, with an increasing puddle of drool surrounding his head. Tumblr feminists have rallied around Schwartz as a symbol of feminine power in a traditionally male-dominated world, and have repeatedly decried these comments. Many other Twitter users simply mocked Pauker for making that kind of desperate tweet out in the open.
