Arvind, plz :P
Damn dude that blows
Unfortunate to lose like that, but it happens. Now let's see what happens next, if your team can regain form or dwell on their loss.

Yeah, that's what I am looking for in the players - how they react.

Seedorf Angered By Refereeing

Seedorf was frustrated at the refereeing against Fluminense

RIO DE JANEIRO - Clarence Seedorf entered the post match press conference with all guns blazing after his side's 2-0 loss to bitter rivals Fluminense, in which a number of decisions went against his side when they were looking to capitalise on their dominance.

Seedorf, 37, said that the referees made some horrible decisions, and that it seemed as though "they wanted to be the center of attention". The player-manager was furious about numerous refereeing decisions throughout the game, which he feels cost the Estrela Solitaria dearly.

"The refereeing was abysmal," he told Lance!Net. "There were some clear free kicks and hand balls, and a foul on Jefferson in the build up to the first goal.

"Clearly, it could've been a draw or a victory to us, but the referees wanted the attention today. It was all about them."

Seedorf also cut a clearly frustrated man when quizzed about Renato's injury. The Dutch midfielder explained that the injury was the turning point in the game. "Renato makes us tick, we missed that today."

Seedorf has been warned by the CBF over his comments, and if he repeats his comments again he could face a touchline ban. (OOC: which is weird because I don't know if that bans him from playing too O.o)
And you should be angry! #CozRefsRCrap

Seedorf's Diary: Lodeiro Our Suarez

Nicolas Lodeiro's form over the past couple of months has been nothing short of brilliant. The Uruguayan's mazy runs, silky skills and brilliant finishing makes him man of the moment in the Carioca Championship. He has been absolutely mercurial!

As many of you are EPL fans, I can think of no one better to compare him to than Luis Suarez. His fellow Uruguayan is what I think Nicolas has moulded his game on: technical skill, flair and determination. Suarez, to me, is one of the hardest working players in the Premier League, like Lodeiro is for us.

Also, Suarez seems to be the one guy defenders hate to play against. He always seems to find the gap in between their legs to swiftly nutmeg them and create another chance. Like Lodeiro, he only needs a slight opening in the defence to create something.

Like his Uruguayan compatriot, Lodeiro seems to be able to never lose the ball when he is dribbling. On many occasions I have been open for a pass, but I know that once Nicolas beats his opposite number, there is no stopping him. Cutting in from the right - he is near unstoppable and is a fierce striker of the ball, too.

Lodeiro started on the left, because I thought that was the best place for him. But after switching him to the right, I am kicking myself I didn't start him there earlier. He has the freedom to create lots of opportunities, and when he cuts in on his left, you know it could be 1-0 very soon.

If he keeps up this standard, I wouldn't be surprised if some of Europe's elite came calling. Already I have turned down bids from a certain Inter Milan, and I am expecting a few more calls to come through in the coming months.

(I'm sorry for the lack of match updates guys but I haven't had time to really play much FM due to important exams coming up, and I didn't want to not update it. Match update should be soon)
Screw exams, I want moar updates! :P

Seedorf's Diary: March

This month had one big fixture in the shape of the Vovo Derby against Fluminense. That was our biggest test of what was actually a fairly easy month in truth, and I expected to take maximum points against everyone except Fluminense. So let's see how we got on.

Botafogo 2-0 Madureira

2.3.2014 | Carioca State | Engenhão | Rio de Jan. | Coutinho, G | 12,777

Gegê 20'
Sassá 57'

It was a relatively hot day but we breezed past Madureira comfortably. Goals from the youngsters meant the workload on the key players wasn't needed and they can be rested in time for the game against Fluminense.

Fluminense 2-0 Botafogo

9.3.2014 | Carioca State | Maracanã | Rio de Jan. | Domingos, A | 29,531

Wagner 53', 68'
Renato 14'
Carlinhos (Flu)
Paulo Miranda (Flu)
Jadson (Flu)
Diguinho (Flu)
Julio Cesar (Bot)
Doria (Bot)

I thought we were really poor and failed to make an impact on the game. Although the refereeing was dreadful, we have to hold up our hands and say we lost. I want to see how the players react to the loss.

Botafogo 4-0 Audax Rio

16.3.2014 | Carioca State | Engenhão | Rio de Jan. Silvério | 10,658

N. Lodeiro 9', 68'
C. Seedorf 26' [PEN]
Cidinho 90'
Cidinho 48'

We bounced back superbly from our loss and came back fighting with a fantastic result versus Audax Rio. Lodeiro was again superb with two goals and I was very happy for Cidinho who got on the scoresheet.

Bonsucesso 0-8 Botafogo

23.3.2014 | Carioca State | Leônidas da Silva | Rio de Jan. | de Souza, P | 9,040

Sassá 7', 9'
Hyuri 25', 56'
Octávio 41'
Doria 52'
Cidinho 65'
N. Lodeiro 86'

Although it is nice to see your team run out winners, it never is in this fashion. I couldn't help but feel sorry for all the Bonsucesso players. We dominated and showed how ruthless we could be, as many thought we didn't have the firepower this season.

Botafogo 3-1 Nova Iguaçu

30.3.2014 | Carioca State | Engenhão | Rio de Jan. | Scarpati, A | 10,014

Hyuri 20', 22'
Zambi 25'
Dedé 56'

The first goal of the month was conceded in pretty ordinary fashion but youngster Dedé's thumping striker made sure of another comfortable win. We're only one point behind Fluminense now!

Thoughts On The Month

A great month, bar the rival loss to Fluminense. We showed not only were we stylish in our play but we had fire power and can score goals, something which we lacked earlier in the season. Lodeiro, Sassa and many other youngsters performed admirably over the course of the month.

League Table

Position: 2nd

We're in it to win it. It is definitely only a two horse race - one that I am confident we can come out on top of. We are miles ahead of the chasing pack, so we know we will get qualification, too. We just can't risk complacency.

Around The State

  • Resende held Vasco da Gama to a 1-1 draw
  • Bangu AC held both Vasco and Fluminense to draws this month
  • Volta Redonda sit rock bottom with two points
  • Fluminense improved their goal difference to +48
  • They also stayed unbeaten for a record 12 games
Great update as usual and good month :)
A good month, unlucky against Flumi, they seem to be powering on through! What does the league look like now?

Thanks Aaron, I will edit the league table in after I play the Nova Iguacu match :)

Title Is Two Horse Race - Seedorf

All Guns Blazing: Clarence Seedorf has made bold statements to the press this week

RIO DE JANEIRO - Botafogo player manager Clarence Seedorf has insisted that there are only two teams in with the chance to win it, saying his side and runaway league leaders Fluminense are on track to meet in the final.

"To me, it is obvious," the 37 year old said to Lance!Net. "We are five points clear of Vasco in third and not far behind Fluminense. We are the only two teams that have a chance."

And in all honesty, many pundits and fans alike, are agreeing with the Surinam-born midfielder's comments, as the two teams have been on another level.

Brazilian football expert Tim Vickery said, "Whilst Seedorf may be playing mind games, it is obvious there is some truth in his statement.

"These two teams have been on another level during the Championship, you saw how Botafogo comfortably beat Vasco - that is second versus third."

Rival managers haven't been drawn into commenting, but this may be the start of a comment war between all the managers of Rio's big four. More to come..
