Cidinho The Man In Form
Purple Patch: Cidinho has hit a hot streak of form
RIO DE JANEIRO - If Clarence Seedorf was hoping for a reaction from his players after the derby loss to Fluminense, then he has certainly got one - and out of one man especially. Cidinho has played many games this season for Seedorf's side, but has never really hit true form. The attacking midfielder has come out of the darkness and shown his best form of the season yet.
Goals in successive games against Audax Rio and Bonsucesso, coupled with numerous assists and beautiful link up play with Julio Cesar, the 19 year old really has come out of the loss with all guns blazing.
"I am happy with my form at the moment, I really want to keep it up," the youth product said. "[Clarence] has been really instrumental in mentoring me on and off the field. It's credit to him that I've played how I have lately."
Cidinho, who plays on the left hand side, said he'd eventually like to go back into the middle of the ground. "Playing in the middle is my preferred destination," he admitted. "But if I need to play anywhere for the team, I will do it."
Botafogo are currently second in the Carioca State Championship after bitter rivals Fluminense. But successive wins over Audax Rio, Bonsucesso and Nova Iguacu has kept them in the title race.
