New UTA Arad kits unveiled

Before showing you how the pre-season developed, I wanna present you the Kits for the new season! As you know, mister Martian asked me to made the design for the new season basing on the original colours of the team: red and white for home, white with a little red for away and blue and white for the third kit.
I also want to take a moment to thank Nike and Toyota, our sponsors, for believing in us and associating their big names with a small team like ours.

Pre-season

The pre-season went really well, only one defeat and 4 wins. The performances also satisfied me, but we can do much better! I know it's hard for the players to get used with 2 new strategies in a short period of time, but they are proffesionals and should cope with that.


Our first friendly was probably our toughest one.We met Donji Srem, a team from the first league of Serbia. I really didn't expected a win, but the players played very well and really surprised everyone, even me.


I don't know what happened, but the second friendly was a dissapoitment. We were the favourites and everyone was expecting a convincing win, but the players had a very poor game and lost.


The third game was beautiful. I know we met a pretty weak team, but still, a great performance. We clearly dominated the game and won by a 4 goals difference.


We faced again a team from a lower league, and again we won.A solid performance but I have a feeling that we should score more, we miss to much!


The last game was a very good test for us. We faced a team from the Hungarian first division and we won. Again a solid performance and I think we are ready for the new season, we can achieve our objectives.

Other things

I want to congratulate Junior Media for gaining his first cap for the Columbian youth national squad, if he will work hard and play well, I am very sure that he will be able to take the next step to a big club!

The first official game

Before the end of the transfer period, I debutated as a Head coach in an official game! I really can't describe the feeling...you are nervous, you are a little affraid, you are eager to start the game, it's just incredible!


It was a tough game, we had to face Unirea Alba Iulia, a very solid team, recently retrogradated from Liga II. And the match wasn't as I and everyone expected. We dominated the entire game an won, we were without a doubt the better team and deserved to qualify to the next round.

It was a very crazy transfer window all over the world, being spent houndred of million for players.The biggest spenders were Chelsea, mister Abramovich throwing with money towards Barcelona, buying pedro on a 35 m euros fee!

Huge surprise!

One morning I was on the training field with the boys, exersating set pieces when my assistant, Ancev, comes to me and tell me that something it's here to see me, he it's waiting in my office.
So I went to my office, wondering who may be...when I walked into the office I saw mister Ioan becali, my agent. He huged me, congratulated for the new job and told me that he has a big surprise for me, knowing that I am a fan on Chelsea and he gives me an envelope.I opened it and I couldn't believe what I am seeiing: a ticket for the UEFA Super Cup 2013 Finale!! Where Chelsea are facing Bayern Munich and he invited me with him.
I went at the game, first time seeing Chelsea live from the stadium and it was worth it! A very beautiful game with the winner being Chelsea!Thank you so much mister Becali!

A short presentation

As the Liga II it's about to begin, I wanted to present you the league we are competing in. Liga II it's formed of 2 series: Seria I and Seria II, UTA being part of Seria II.
Seria I it's formed from 13 clubs and Seria II, the one I would present you, it's formed from 12 clubs.


There are some very weak teams, like Metalul Resita or Minerul Motru and some very big clubs like U Craiova, a former champion like us, Gloria Bistrita, a team that last year relegated for the second time in their history after playing more that 30 years in teh first league and CS U Craiova, a team that was formed this season, but a team with a lot of money.
The rules are pretty simple and are presented you in the next picture:

The season started!

It was a very good month, with only 1 draw and one defeat from six games. The players performed well and I am sure that we can do better than our objective.
The draw against Metalul Resita prettey much annoyed me, because they are one of the weakest team in the league.


We started the season away, at Mioveni, a very solid team, one of the team that want to achieve promotion.They dominated us all the game but the strategy with 5 defenders worked very well, counter-attacking them and winning with a sensational performance from Firtulescu.


In the second game of September we faced Otopeni, in the next round of the Romanian cup. They recently got relegated from the secon league, so we shouldn't have a problem beating them, that's why I choosed to strat the game with reserves.The biggest problem it's that in the next round we drawed Chiajna, a team from the first league, and I think that we will be eliminated.


What can I say?! To draw against a very weak team it's very bad, we could have maximum poitns at the end of the month, but I can't really blame the players, the performance was very good, we just didn't manage to score.


Well, this was a very equilibrated game, but thanks to a great performance from our wingers, both getting on the scorer list, we won! From 4 games in the league, we have 3 wins and a draw, one more game to play this month and if we win, we can finish the month on the first place, something that nobody was expecting.


Just as every one was expecting, we were eliminated from the cup..but what can you do when you meet a much better team than you? they even have players that have matches for the Romanian national squad, so it's a big difference between us.


The last game of the month found us facing U Craviova, away. Probably the most solid team of the league..if you would asked me before the game, I would said that a draw would be a very good result,but again the counter attacking tactinc worked very well and despite being clearly dominated, we won the game!
SO we finished the month on the top of the table, if we could see the same result at the end of teh season would be awesome!

The month of october, the second month since the begining of the league, was absolutley perfect! 5 matches, 5 wins...maybe the performances weren't great in all the games but at the end of the season the points are the most important thing.
I am really impressed by the 3 Columbians that we have at the club, they are absolutley pure class, one of them, Medina, was even named as vice-captain of the Columbian U21 team and showed great signs of improvement.




Gloria Bistrita it's clear one of the best teams from the league, despite being low on the table. They dominated the game and from a match like this, I am glad to achieve one point.


Against CS U Craiova we were brilliant! We dominated and won 3 - 0, the 3 goal difference showing who was the better team. A club with so much money, probably the richest club in the second league, you would expect to play better..they are poor standing in the league too, so I think their head coach might be the problem.


Another perfect result. I feel like the boys are needing a bonus for the football their are showing so I will have a chat with mister Martian on this subject. Beside the Columbians, I also wanna prize our keeper, he was brilliant until now, saving us with his great reflexes!


This is what i was talking about, a poor performance, very poor, but a win it's a win. I would prefer to play only liek this and wind every game hat playing great football and not managing to score.


This was the big local derby! The city divided in two parts, one supporting us and one supporting Bihor..it was a great show made by our fans! They probably helped us win the game, pushing us from behind, Apostu with a late goal ensuring our victory!





My first month as a head coach and i already ahve won my first award: Head coach of the month! I am so proud, if the players keep playing like this will be better for me, them and the club: I will attract attention from the big clubs from teh first league, the same for the players and the club will promovate to the first league.

We started the month very well, winning two games which made us gain a big difference between the second place. But thing thing came with something bad, the players started to lack at concentration and we lost against Resita and against Mioveni and Targu Mures we also didn't play so well, but we won.



A very good result, but a poor performance, especially by the defenders. All teh season the central defenders were pretty poor, just Ospina played well. In the transfer windiw we have to bring a new central defender.


Before meeting us, Minerul Motru had 0 points, so I was a little affraaid because this is how the big surprises appear, last place, 0 points, facing first place. Usually the better team relaxes and then surprises appear, but wasn't this time,thanks to a double by Santa.
This was the last game from the first half of the season, we will still have to play 5 matches until the winter break.


Well, the first game of the second half of the season came with a defeat, my first one as a head coach. This is the type of match I really hate, you go an play very good fotball, you dominate the opponent clearly and you loose 1-0! I hope the players will come back to a good after this loss...


This was like the first game against Mioveni, a very close one. They had some chances, we had some but at the end of the day we have the 3 points, all that matters.


This time the game was very odd...in the first 60 minutes we were pretty poor, but in the final 30 minutes, the boys start playing well and scored 3 times.
