I followed Sir Alex towards the media room.
"Sir Alex, I don't think I can do this." I whispered.
"Nonsense David, you CAN. You will be successful here! The fans and media will love you! Believe me." He replied.
I nodded and we stopped at the door.
"Alright David, are you ready?" Sir Alex asked me, looking joyful.
"I'm ready as I'll ever be." I replied, looking confident.
"Okay, here we go!" He said, opening the door to the flash of a million cameras.
"Sir Alex!" "SAF!" "Mr.Ferguson!" The press all shouted when he walked towards the desk.
I looked at him from behind the door, he put his index finger up to say "One minute."
"Mr.Ferguson! Who's the next manager?!" "Sir Alex, why did David Moyes leave!" The press all asked, raising their voices as each question was asked.
"Enough!" Sir Alex shouted.
The room went silent.
"Thank you. As you all know, we are about to present to the world our next manager." He said.
The whole room cheered.
"We will be answering any question you have once our new manager has been revealed.. And now, without further a do, here is your new Manchester United manager...."
All the media looked towards the door, cameras at the ready.
I walked in...
"DAVID BECKHAM!"Sir Alex belted out, standing up and applauding.
Everything was flashing in front of me, literally, so many cameras were taking pictures.
I was expecting a mixed reaction, but the majority of the room copied Sir Alex and applauded me.
"Thank you, thank you." I said, waving and smiling, I went to sit down next to Sir Alex, he smiled.
"Okay, you can start asking questions now.." Sir Alex added.
"Mr.Beckham, do you think choosing Manchester United as your first team to manage is quite tough?"

"Yes, it will be tough, as this season the league looks very unpredictable, however I have good staff around me and I am sure they will guide me."

"David! do you feel pressured that you will be taking Sir Alex Ferguson's role with all the success he's had?"

"Of course I do, and I think anyone who would have took this job would feel the same.

"Mr.Beckham, do you have any transfer targets? If you do, which position are you trying to strengthen?"

"I've only just signed the contract for this job, so I have not had the chance to delve into the market just yet."

"Okay, that'll be all. Thank you for coming everyone." Sir Alex said, signalling for me to follow him.
Again, the whole room cheered as we walked out.
"Well David, it's now official, I am here to guide you but right now it is up to you to speak to the team and the staff, and look into the transfer market, Good luck." Sir Alex told me, shaking my hand.
He walked away into his office.
And here it begins, my first ever job as the club I love the most.

Why did Manchester United choose David Beckham as their new manager?
It's confirmed now that David Beckham is the new Manchester United manager, but the question on everybody's lips is why did Manchester United choose him rather than more experienced managers.

With managers such as Jurgen Klopp and Roberto Di Matteo in line for the job, it seemed that either one of these two would have taken the job but Manchester United are taking a huge risk by employing a retired player without any managerial experience.

New Boy: David Beckham earnt over 500 caps but has had no managerial experience.

Manchester United chose David Beckham for numerous reasons, mainly because he is someone they can trust and they know that with time he will become a great manager, but also he is a very calm figure and knows the club very well.

With clubs such as Arsenal and Manchester City buying top players this transfer window, David Beckham will have a lot of pressure on him and may need to bolster his squad.

Ilkay Gundogan, 23, is a player that David Beckham is interested in signing to strengthen Manchester United's midfield.
You have a lot to live up to when using beckham. Nice update and gundogan is a quality player, I hope you get him.

Rumours this week:
Ilkay Gundogan (Borussia Dortmund)
Miralem Pjani? (AS Roma)
Raphael Varane (Real Madrid)

Ilkay Gundogan would be a perfect fit to help strengthen our midfield.

Miralem Pjani? would be a cheaper option to Gundogan at around 12 million pounds.

Raphael Varane would help strengthen our defence and add pace to the back line.

What a week it has been.
I can't believe that this week actually happened.
Got a job at the club I love the most, back into the footballing industry, life can't get better than this.
Currently I'm looking to sign Ilkay Gundogan, watched him play numerous times and he is magnificent, sent an offer to Borussia today for 23 million pounds, hopefully they will accept it.

Pre-season is going great, already got two wins under the belt, giving the whole team a chance to start and impress me.
It was great catching up with Ryan Giggs and Nicky Butt, the class of 92! Great fellas they are, they've helped me a lot through-out the past week.

I've got an interview very soon on MUTV about my appointment, life at the club and overall what its like to be the new Manchester United manager.
We shall see how that goes very soon.

ILKAY GUNDOGAN JOINS MANCHESTER UNITED
Ilkay Gundogan, 23, has joined Manchester United from Borussia Dortmund for a fee rumoured to be around 23 million pounds.
Gundogan is new Manchester United manager David Beckham's first signing in a hope to strengthen the core of his midfield.
The fans of Manchester United are delighted with the signing:

"David Beckham has done a fantastic job in buying Gundogan as our midfield needed improving and he's got a player who is able to command the centre of the park." A Manchester United fan told us.

Reports suggest that David Beckham isn't done there and is looking out for more players, with the possibility of Ashley Young and Chris Smalling leaving Old Trafford to pursue their careers elsewhere.

I will cry tears of joy if this happens in real life!

What a great transfer...a Fellaini and Gundogan couple at midfield! Perfect!

EXCLUSIVE: INTERVIEW WITH DAVID BECKHAM
New manager David Beckham has taken time out to take part in our interview for MUTV, where he discussed the whole club in general.

HC - Helen McConnell
DB - David Beckham

HC: Good morning David, how are you today?

DB: Great thanks, and yourself?

HC: Fine thanks, let begin. So David, how does it feel to be managing the greatest English club?

DB: Absolutely amazing, still to this day it feels like I'm dreaming, the clubs staff and the players were very welcoming and hopefully I will live up to the boards expectations this season.

HC: What were the reactions of the players when you revealed that you were the new manager to them?

DB: Many of them were astonished in a good way. They all cheered and came to greet me, Then I had a little chat with Ryan Giggs, Michael Carrick and Wayne Rooney. It felt great to see that their reaction was a positive one.

HC: How does it feel to be back here at Old Trafford but as a manager this time?

DB: It's very different, that's for sure, though I'm very honoured to have this job and I hope I stay here for many years to come.

HC: You signed Ilkay Gundogan for 23 million pounds, how important is this signing to you?

DB: Very important, our midfield needed strengthening and Ilkay is the perfect fit for our midfield, he's a player with exceptional quality and will aid us in this campaign.

HC: Thank you very much David, good luck this season!

DB: Thank you Helen!

Pre-Season Update!

Pre-Season is now officially over! Here are the results from all the pre-season games we played:

Manchester United 3 - 0 Manchester United Under 21's
Antonio Valencia
Shinji Kagawa
Adnan Januzaj

We were totally dominant against our Under 21's, however they did field a strong team, with the likes of Zaha and Will Keane up front but we totally outclassed them.

Toluca 2 - 4 Manchester United
Rio Ferdinand x2
Antonio Valencia
Jesse Lingard

Expected to thrash Toluca but they gave us a heck of a game, however we out-scored them and won the game with a 2 goal margin.

Bury 1 - 3 Manchester United
Jonny Evans x2
Wilfred Zaha

Surprising scoreline, we should have won comfortably by more than 4 goals, however we did start a much youthful side.

Manchester United 1 - 2 FCP
Robin van Persie

Shocking result, granted FCP aren't easy to push over but losing at home? Disappointing.

Manchester United 2 - 0 Schalke
Shinji Kagawa
Robin van Persie

Happy with this result after coming off with a defeat in our last game. We were totally dominant which is reflected in the scoreline.

Antwerp 0 - 3 Manchester United
Shinji Kagawa
Antonio Valencia
Danny Welbeck

Great way to end our pre-season with a good 3-0 win, yes, we were much better than Antwerp on paper but nothing is better than a solid victory regardless of the opponent.

Very soon I will be managing my first competitive game, the community shield against Wigan, hopefully it'll be a day to remember!

AC - Adrian Chiles
RK - Roy Keane
LD - Lee Dixon
GS - Gareth Southgate

AC: Good afternoon everyone, and welcome to this FA Community Shield match between the Champions Manchester United and FA Cup winners Wigan Athletic.

AC: Manchester United said farewell to their most successful manager last season, but this season, they have welcomed an old face back who will this time be standing in the technical area.

- VT rolls about David Beckham -

AC: So Roy, what do you think about the choice of manager?

RK: It's an odd one, that's for sure, hiring a manager with no experience is a huge risk, especially at a club such as Manchester United.

AC: I understand what you mean but it's David Beckham, a former player at United, surely it's not such a 'huge risk' as he is always calm and knows his stuff about football.

RK: No, I disagree, still a huge risk, it won't surprise me if he gets sacked after Christmas.

AC: Okay... We have the line-ups!

MANCHESTER UNITED:

WIGAN ATHLETIC

AC: Looking at the teams, Lee, who do you think will be vital in this match?

LD: Well, looking at United, Robin van Persie and Wayne Rooney will be very important.

GS: I agree, but I'm also looking forward to seeing Ilkay Gundogan who they have just said from Borussia Dortmund.
As for Wigan, Grant Holt and United loanee Nick Powell will be Wigan's most important players.

AC: Okay, we can now go live to Manchester United manager David Beckham.

GC - Gabriel Clarke
DB - David Beckham

GC - Good afternoon David, this is your first competitive match, how do you feel?

DB - Excited, but nervous, looking forward to seeing how the lads do today, as they've had a great pre-season.

GC - Your starting Ilkay Gundogan today for his first competitive match for Manchester United, how vital do you think he'll be for you this season?

DB - Very vital, we needed to strengthen our midfield and Ilkay fits the role perfectly.

GC - Your fielding a strong line-up even though your playing a lower league team, why is that?

DB - Well, Gabriel, let me tell you this, any team from any league no matter how good or bad they are can beat any other team on the day, Wigan are strong and can cause us problems, regardless of their stature.

GC - Thanks David, good luck!

DB - Cheers.

AC - Okay, we're going to take another break, when we return the game will be about to kick off, see you then!

- Another break, god ITV, how many breaks do you need in a football programme?! -

AC - Welcome back, Manchester United vs Wigan Athletic is about to kick off, here are your commentators Clive Tyldesley and Andy Townsend...
Go and win the trophy!
