Not the best part of the season :/

Hopefully your team can do better and avoid relegation.

I can relate to that loss very lower-league sides, don't worry, you ain't the only one.
Walter: Haha I know :(

Bayern: Thanks mate :)

Jorks: It was a tough month but better things are around the corner ;)

Pauker: Thanks for sympathising :P

January Transfers

We were lucky enough to secure what I believe are two big transfers for the club and will undoubtedly improve our future. Aaron Cresswell, the Ipswich Town left-back had been constantly mentioned by my scouts and I decided to watch him play myself quite early on in the season. I was impressed no end by what I saw and decided we would make a move for him. He quite clearly has the quality to play in the Premier League and I wanted to make that happen. We set up talks with Ipswich to discuss transfer fees and came to a very amicable agreement that saw us part with £3.8 million. Negotiations were slightly drawn out but nothing too troublesome. Once the offer was accepted we were in touch with his agent to discuss wages and bonuses. Again thankfully Aaron was smart enough to have an agent that wasn’t extortionate and we swiftly agreed on £17,000 per week.

The second main man we were after was Tom Ince from Blackpool. He’d been having an excellent season so far and had scored 8 goals in 14 games for them as a winger. With Benayoun operating on the right and Ince on the left we would be much better going forward and our left side, which was previously rather weak with Jon Parr at left-back suddenly became our strongest side, defensively and attacking. Blackpool were again tough negotiators but we managed to snag Tom for just under £6 million, on a wage of £24,500. We believe the wage is slightly high but he has already shown in his first few games that he is a vital player and is repaying back the investment handsomely.

One final signing we wrapped up in January was that of centre-back Dedryck Boyata. With Mariappa and Kyrgiakos the first choices, we needed a back up that we could bring in and be confident in at any moment and Boyata was more than happy to join us in mid-January. By securing these three key signings, I believe are going to be able to make major strides up the table and secure Premier League football for another season.

I also decided to release several players as I was getting frustrated that nobody was bidding for them despite listing them for £0! This will in the long run save us on the wage budget and enable me to potentially make better transfers for the club. As a result, we released the following 4.

February is round the corner and we have two incredibly important relegation games coming up against Hull and Norwich. We will hopefully come away with 6 points and at least 7 points from the 4 games we have to play.
Nice job getting Ince

Ince is a good player, as is Cresswell, some good deals.
Ince is fantastic on FM this year and he should work wonders for Crystal Palace! :D
Some nice transfers, especially with Cresswell, who I've heard wonders :P. Ince a little bit too much, as his contract was coming to an end by the end of the season. Hopefully, he'll prove me wrong and justify the fee :P

Very good transfers mate!
Bayern: Thanks mate :)

TCO: Cresswell has failed me :(

Jason: I hope so!

Pauker: See above :P but yeah Aaron hasn't played well lately :( Ince I needed to make him sign in January because he would make an instant impact and he has :P so I'd rather have got him haha

AAN: Cheers mate

Another vital win against relegation candidates has kept us picking up points wherever possible. Benayoun had a storming game but the rest of the team defended tightly when called upon.

A game we dominated from start to finish and came away with a deserved win. I’m very proud of the hard work these lads are putting in and the results are matching the effort. Beating our relegation rivals is keeping our heads above water for now.

Crystal Palace FC 1 – 3 Tottenham

Tottenham HotspurLamela (11, 31, pen 72)

I have never seen such a one sided game in all my time as a manager. Spurs were all over us and deservedly won. We only had 28% possession and all our hard work was undone in one game. They got a bit of the Pulis hairdryer treatment and hopefully can turn things around.

West Bromwich Albion FC 1 – 1 Crystal Palace FC

Line-ups:
West Bromwich – Myhill, Reid, Lugano, Olsson, Ridgewell, Yacob, Mulumbu, Sessegnon, Morrison, Sinclair, Anichebe Subs: Foster, Popov, Tamas, Thorne, Vydra, Dawson, Jones

Crystal Palace – Speroni, Hunt, Kyrgiakos, Boyata, Parr, Ince, Guédioura, Jedinak, Williams, Benayoun, Chamakh Subs: Price, Ward, Campaña, Gayle, Mariappa, Dikgacoi, Bolasie

Bookings:
Crystal Palace - Hunt

Goals:
West Bromwich
Anichebe (pen 87)

Crystal Palace – Boyata (53)

This was a tough draw to take. We dominated and bounced back well after the poor performance but out of 23 shots only a measly ONE was on target. As a result, we let WBA back in with a late penalty.

League Table

Some really nice results there, shame about the Spurs result, though! Jedinak likes to pick up those yellow cards doesn't he? ;)

Some great results there. A few more wins and you've reached safety. Good luck

Pulis Signs On!

Journalist = JR
Tony Pulis = TP

JR: Tony first congrats on signing a new 3 year deal. Reports are you asked to take a lower wage. Why is that? The club isn’t struggling.

TP: Thanks very much. To be honest I’ve already grown to love the club and the fans and I know that I’m not in this job to get paid but to make a difference. Taking a lower wage means other funds can be pumped in to other areas of the club.

JR: You had a decent month with a tough loss against Spurs but responded well against WBA. But the club struggles to score goals it seems. Why is that?

TP: The system we play utilises only one striker and we prefer Chamakh’s style of play, which is to hold up the ball and bring in the wingers and attacking midfield rather than score. Maybe in the future if we can bring in someone else we will have strikers that are more goalscorers.

JR: As we head in to the final 2 and a half months are there any aims you want to achieve?

TP: Safety is still our priority and I’m confident we can do it. These players are working harder than I’ve ever seen and they want this just as much as the fans. They suffered a heart-breaking relegation in 2005 and we have to make sure we don’t go through that again. The benefits from staying up far outweigh the parachute payments we would receive if we went down and I’ve got to keep this lot going.

JR: Which teams are you tipping to go down?

TP: I’m not in the business of telling you lot that so you can spin my words and turn managers against me. Every team has the ability to stay up and we are in a major battle against all of them to stay up! That’s all I have time for so we will leave it at that.
