Key signs Hernandez replacement
Manchester United have signed striker Diego Costa from Atlético Madrid on a five-year deal for a fee of about £21million.
The 24 year old, who has stated that he will be working overtime to get a spot in the Brazilian team for the 2014 World Cup, was told that he would be a key player in Key's Manchester United side.
"This is the first of many signings in this window!" manager Tyler Key told the club website, "We will definitely be looking to delve further into the transfer market!"
Costa decided that he was unhappy with the way that Diego Simeone was running the club. He stated that Simeone used a lone striker and favoured David Villa which meant that Costa would not get the game-time he needed, coming close to the World Cup. As it stands, he currently has no caps for his National Team.
"He was calling out for a new club, and as it happened, we needed a striker!" Key told press, "I am delighted that Costa became available to us. He is a great player with tons of potential and I believe that he can become a legend at Manchester United!"
Costa started his career at Braga in Portugal, before moving to Penafiel, and then Atlético Madrid. Since joining Los Rojiblancos, he has gone on loan to Celta Vigo, Albecete and Rayo Vallecano. Joining Manchester United, Diego Costa has started a new chapter in his career.
